Just thinking about the direction both these stars took post-Twilight. Anyone else here confess they made fun of both these actors back in the day for the cheesy romance, but love them now for their edgy indie works (The Lighthouse, Personal Shopper, etc.)?

They were playing zombies who fell in love with their food...
Stewart hasn't convinced me yet. Pattinson on the other hand has made a very good turn in his career.

Stewart was obviously talented, but most people hadn't seen her indie work. The Cake Eaters, Speak, The Yellow Handkerchief, etc.
Pattinson basically learned how to act over time. He's decent in Remember Me (i.e. much better than he is in the Twilight films), but it's really Cosmopolis where he starts figuring things out.

I always thought Pattinson was talented. I’ve never been a fan of Stewart. Pretty sure more people argued that she was the one out of the cast that was going to have the best career.

Yet to be impressed by Pattinson tbh even though I like his ambition and the projects he picks.
Stewart's recent choices were underwhelming but she's still the more interesting/talented one to me.

I still don't see what everyone else does in Kristen Stewart. She just doesn't have any charisma or magnetism that makes her compelling to watch on screen. There are times where it works to her advantage, and I admire her career ambitions by working with auteurs, but she still has yet to impress me.
Pattinson, on the other hand, has thundered out of the gate ever since he hooked up with Cronenberg, culminating in some of the finest work of any actor of his generation.

Well Pattinson's cooler anyway ....he disses the right thing (the entire English film structure, and oh it's true, it's DAMN true ), he then praises the little midget American thespian and yanno he got rid of that lunatic who cheated on him in a car (classy) .....anything good he does acting-wise is just icing on the cake I reckon ..... "I think when you first start, if you're tall and English and have kind of floppy hair, in England that is the box that you're put in," he says. "But I like movies because of Pacino, basically. I didn't grow up watching period dramas and being like, 'That's what I want to do!' www.npr.org/2019/11/18/780437800/robert-pattinson-does-not-want-to-play-an-english-prince-thank-you-very-much

I didn't see the Twilight movies but I remember a lot of people thought Pattinson was one of the only good things about them. I think he's always been viewed as a pretty good actor outside of the internet Haterade.
Stewart does cooler indie stuff now but I always find her vacant in everything. She wasn't a good actress then or now. One of those actors where there doesn't seem to be anything going on behind the eyes when she's acting, it's all outward and the character is dead.

Stewart can be just about adequate in a role that requires her to be stoic (Camp X-Ray) but I would struggle to tell apart most of the characters she played. She tends to do similar things, looks uncomfortable on-screen and, like Stephen said, has no charisma. Pattinson on the other hand truly seems to relish roles that are very unlike his off-screen persona and, although I'm not ready to call him a great actor just yet, the characters he portrays in The Rover, Good Time and The Childhood of a Leader all feel distinct and vastly different.

He had literally the worst performance in most of the films.
