Oh honeys, have any other movies be remade so many times in so many countries? {Scroll down} The original movie was Italian (2016) Then there was the Greek remake (2016) Then a Spanish remake (2017) Then a Turkish version (2018) And a French version (2018) Mexico (2018) South Korea (2018) Chinese Remake (2018) Polish remake (2019) German remake (2019) With also a Slovakian & Lebanese remake in the works... but no American / English one yet.

They sold the story very well. Have you seen the original movie? It's a perfect story for a stage play too.

Oh honey, I haven't seen the original Italian movie, but saw the Spanish & Mexican ones (was told to watch both to hear the language differences as I'm learning Spanish). It is a perfect story! Is the Italian one good? Did it have quite big stars & director? I could see an American version easily. I wonder why it hasn't been done yet... Has anyone else seen any of these? Thoughts?

Italian cast is very well known here, you surely know Alba Rohrwacher. The movie was one of the most successful in the last years. Watch a subtitled version, if you can find it.

I need to watch more Italian movies.

I just checked. The rights for the American version were bought by Harvey Weinstein 's company, that bankrupted. You'll have to wait I guess...
And you forgot the Hungarian and Armenian versions. There's an unofficial Indian movie too.

Would you do an experiment like the one shown in the movie?
I personally wouldn't, especially because of the privacy of the people calling me /sending messages. I mean, they want to tell me something, not making other people aware of their life.

"In December 2019, Issa Rae was announced to write and star in the US remake. Rae will produce the film along with Spyglass Media Group, a subsidiary of Lantern Entertainment, which acquired the assets of The Weinstein Company after its bankruptcy."

Fortunately I first watched the original which was very good.
A few years later I saw the Greek one. Mediocre.

I didn't expect something so recent to be in the running for this title, but I'm impressed.

I'd never heard of this film before I read this thread and the fact that it had been remade so many times made me curious,so I watched it.Really good film, felt more like a play actually.I get why so may countries wanted to make their own versions.I would definitely watch the English language version if Issa Rae does end up making it.

The original was a huge success here in Italy, and it was deserved, it is a terrific film. I can easily see it remade in the US, and with a pretty good cast.

I just realized Kasia Smutniak was in both original and Polish version (she was born in Poland, but she has been living in Italy for decades).

I kind of hated the original. Shallow and predictable screenplay with zero subtlety and countless cliches but I can see its appeal to some, so not really surprised tbh.

I watched the French remake yesterday (had only seen the original before) - Nothing To Hide on Netflix - pretty good version, well played and if you've never seen any version you might like this because of a single moment that sticks with you. ...........and it occured to me that this is sort of the Hamilton or something of movie ideas in how the story and its hook can be played and replayed like a hit stage show that just has to invoke the same beats and notes. As long as you execute it well - handle the pace and with an attractive cast - not even an adept cast is needed just appealing cast - it's a license to print money for eternity basically. The idea itself is both not fuckuppable really and designed to never be "great" in the way most people would describe a movie they love just by its design limitations..... People, fragile relationships and each countries unique cuisine .......
