Winslet is good and all, but there were four better choices nominated. Still, she *was* good.
Yay for most of these results. Even the ones I didn't vote for were still pretty solid winners. Thanks for hosting the ever more thankless awards, Pen! I never know how to show my enthusiasm over a message board, but I really like these things. The nomination stage is always a bit more fun, because there's so much more uncertainty in who will get in. But it's all enjoyable.

rewatched The Aviator some weeks ago and Blanchett's performance aged really badly. Meh results. Nothing for Sideways (not even Haden Church what the hell) and Eternal Sunshine is great but that score is not on the same level as James Newton Howard, not by a long stretch. And Life Aquatic for cast? Ehhh, I don't remember a single performance from the movie. Ganz? inspired I guess but still no thanks. Giamatti or Carrey would've been better choices. 2004 is such a boring year. 2003 is going to be worse. my incessant bitching/moaning aside, thanks again pendragon for running these (as Martin Stett puts it) totally thankless awards. it's a dirty job. i wish there was more engagement because the principle is totally sound, this board just doesn't have enough obsessives. too many people with lives i suppose

Giamatti and Madsen were robbed. And so was Payne in the Adapted Screenplay category. But hey, at least Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind won big time! So happy for that!

These were alright. I'm not big on Owen and Blanchett's performances. Surprised Sideways didn't win anything. Thought it was loved on here. Azkaban should've won original score. Loved the Bruno Ganz win. No complaints on the BP winner.

Love the wins for Ganz, Winslet and Blanchett!!! Also happy for The Aviator winning costumes and PD and The Life Aquatic winning ensemble.

The lesser Blanchett performance was nominated, then we give her the win for it and reward the ensemble in her better performance -- weird. other than that better fairly expected winners other than maybe Ganz. Hopeful for a Giacchino win, but JNH is great too. thanks pendragon as always

I found the wins reasonably good. I liked Owen winning, despite being a fraud, as he is clearly one of the protagonists of the film. Blanchett winning for one of her weakest performances while Portman, Virginia and McAdams are nominated in the same category is laughable. I hated the fact that Sideways left without winning anything, but at least ESOASM was recognized
