Very solid cast, but I read the book a few months ago and it was awful, the worst thing Liane Moriarty has ever written. So I'm pretty lukewarm about this project.

I didn't read this book but the book description doesn't remotely match the casting.
What's with all those Americans - and Kidman is playing Masha? So moved from Australia? She really needs her next films to work out ......The Prom and the Eggers one....because she's been in quite a rut to me at least.....
Nine Australians from different walks of life attend a pricey 10-day "Mind and Body Total Transformation Retreat" at a place called the Tranquillum House run by a mysterious Russian woman named Masha.

Filming wrapped on this last week, and Tiffany Boone gave an interview with Instyle with a little insight about what it's like working with Nicole Kidman on Nine Perfect Strangers, whom she describes as a "method actor" who "stays in character for months.

Interesting teaser. Want to see more though. Cool accent from Kidman as well. Definitely looks like a big departure from her rich American Wife roles in Big Little Lies and The Undoing.

Looks very Scientology-ish ........... MsMovieStar may have feedback on wigs, yadda yadda Oh honey, wigs & whispering! I've always thought she'd be quite good as creepy (because she is) or in horror movies. This could be the hit she needs before the flop that is being anticipated of her Lucille Ball movie (think Disgrace of Monaco 2).

Oh honey, I always love the comments on the Mail site when Kidman puts out anything new:- linkThe comments below have not been moderated. Dooney25, Wesley Chapel, United States, 10 hours ago She looks like a wax figure

Haters gonna Hate! Kidman does not miss with these TV ventures. Wildly impressive how well she understands the appeal of the medium. Probably another round of SAG/Emmy/Globe nods for her on the cards. In some ways though, I'm more excited to see Melissa McCarthy in something potentially strong and worthy of her talent. She doesn't get enough of those projects.

I think Kidman's hair was irreparably damaged during her Hollywood startlet days, as they were trying to straighten her natural curls - this is why she always wears wigs.

I didn't know that, sad but makes perfect sense. Wish she had just been allowed to keep her natural curls. Now she's damaged her face too

What a bummer if this is really the case. Her natural strawberry curls could’ve been paradigm shifting, but of course, all the studio execs probaly hated them.

This looks fun and I love the cast. A nice mix or movie stars, character actors who are often underused in film, rising stars, ect. I’m especially excited for McCarthy who can be a great dramatic actress.
As for the Kidman debate that’s going on in several threads, I’ll just say that I do think she’s largely responsible for the television renaissance as well as breaking down the perception that tv is lesser. Witherspoon too to some extent. It’s not that she was the first, but it’s been a while since any movie star has been that prevalent on television, hitting with her consistency in terms of ratings/acclaim WHILE thriving in film and maintaining an A-list career in that medium. I think that’s what makes her television venture feel unique and not all that comparable to others who may have done some tv work before her. A major film actor doing television work now feels like an event instead of a demotion of sorts

msmoviestar has stayed in character for years on IMDB and MAR though...... Nicole Kidman has admitted that she stayed in character as wellness resort director Masha for five months shooting Hulu limited drama series Nine Perfect Strangers. During a TCA panel, she joked that she was “batshit crazy”, repeating a line from her character in the series, which is based on Liane Moriarty's book “I’d only respond as Masha,” she said. “I wanted a very calm healing energy to emanate all the time so I remember going over to people and sort of putting my hand on their heart, holding their hand, they would talk to me or use my name Nicole when I would completely ignore them.”deadline.com/2021/08/nine-perfect-strangers-nicole-kidman-hulu-trippy-reveals-she-stayed-character-five-months-1234810693/
