I LOVE unhinged performances and I think this is in her Top 5. Brilliant shit! I expect nothing less. "Dont bullshit me motherfucker!" Her verbal assaults are priceless.

Who plays fragile hysterics better or more hilariously than her? "You're so fcking verbal!" This is a smaller part than her other Woody parts, where she's better, Celebrity, and even better and GOAT-worthy, Husbands & Wives. She's so great and so vibrant as an actress, others by comparison seem straight up dull. Side note - brilliant darkly witty movie, a bolder unlikely script from Woody (the language, the sexuality) and rougher, in a good way, like how the editing itself sometimes seems to be lapsing and fidgeting.

She is wonderful and non-worthy here but IMO a hundred times better in Husbands and Wives which is a similar performance but tampered down slightly and also given a lot more time to shine. She absolutely deserved to win in '92 and to be nominated in '97. I mean, one of the best things Woody Allen did was write these amazing neurotic hysterical woman and Davis ranks at the very top of that pantheon. Just impossible to look away from.

Love JD. I thought Kirstie Alley was really funny in this, too.
