Dark Waters - I don't get it. This was supposed to be a totally generic genre flick, his "lame one" if you will, that has no trace of a playful auteur and what not... yet I dug it. More than Erin Brockovich, definitely more than Spotlight. It had no right to be this good what the fuck May December - So I didn't have to watch this right after DW as I was embued with the blast of that one already... I don't quite see what everyone is seeing here - like LIVES were at stake in Waters this just seemed so minor in comparison lol, and I'm sure I've seen the themes here getting dealt with more effectively other places before... But the core of it was interesting - enough to say I'll watch it again someday. Moore was very good - but she's good even in Wonderstruck what's new? - Portman was especially good; and I'm not a big fan of her and this was the first time I geniunely liked a performance of hers since god knows when. The whole film could've been Moore doing Portman's make-up and it'd still get a thumb up from me... lower-half Haynes though atm Congratulation Mr. Haynes. 10 Films in and you don't have a "bad" film yet (even WS has merits). current ranking: Carol Safe Dark Waters I'm Not There Superstar
Velvet Goldmine May December Far from Heaven Poison Wonderstruck
