Well this one is definitely specific to the person - an Oscar winner, 2 x nominee - she was for a time called the "best actress of her generation" - should she have been?
Weisz turned 50 this year and there's no question she can act - she's a tremendously appealing performer - but did people give her that tag so soon.........or did she deserve it and is better than her career is even (not that her career is bad, she just doesn't do much)?
Weisz holds an odd position on this board as someone you never here anything bad about - she sort of is like Olivia Colman .........who she is 4 years older than btw.
Underrated. Any time she gets a real part (which is not often enough unfortunately) she hits it out of the park. So many times she's too good for the movie she's in, think that any time I've seen a Black Widow trailer.
Just right verging on overrated. I think she's got two monumental performances to her name that speak to her range and versatility: The Mummy and The Favourite. But I think her Oscar-winning performance is kind of lackluster, and I don't see why people lost their collective minds over The Deep Blue Sea or The Whistleblower. She can be fun and very watchable, but she's not the best actress of her generation . . . at least, not with the catalogue she's displayed thus far.

One of the best actresses of the last 25 years. She has several performances I'd call fantastic, especially Agora, The Fountain and Youth, which are among the best performances of the 21st century, and she has been at least really good in everything I've seen her in. So she's pretty underrated for me.
"You'll soon bleed to death, so reflect on your life."
Slightly overrated - I think the best year of her career was 2018 with The Favourite and Disobedience, and even those aren't that great - career looks lacking (her Oscar winning perf is just okay) especially compared to someone like Winslet. Weisz definitely seemed to have more supporters back in the IMDb days. Her next role might be playing Liz Taylor - should follow it up with Jackie O opposite Pacino's Onassis of course.

Outside of her 2 Oscar nominations, she's basically a Kate Beckinsale or Rose Byrne. But where Kate is a favorite, and has things like The Last Days of Disco. And is a childhood favorite I liked as early as 12 years old or something, Weisz was The Mummy to me for the longest time, until she was The Constant Gardener, but basically defined by one film every 6 years imo.
Come on now tho. She's pretty and a likeable star, and like lots of people I've grown used to talking about her with mom and friends over the years (That Mummy girl) but lol she's like the Elizabeth McGovern of her time. More talented than Elizabeth, but vastly underacts all her parts.
But... I do think she deserved exactly the two nods she has. I get tired of her smaller films and performances getting some random mention here. Yeah... I seen them. I don't talk about them because they're nothing special.
Overrated based on the other candidates that's been done so far.
When she's good she's REALLY good, but she seems to me to have been really good so few times in her career relative to how long she's been around, and when she's bad she is unintentionally laughable (My Blueberry Nights, that shitty Bourne movie). So, um, I guess overrated considering she seems to be far too universally beloved for someone who participated in that strained familial unit in The Lovely Bones.
