figured I'd take this over for the time being since Martin Stett has been AWOL all month. Hope he's ok
as it happens I haven't watched a single film since watching Unstoppable on the 16th over ten days ago. Feels pretty weird. What I have been doing is watching some TV and listening to books/music.
Pride & Prejudice (audiobook) - narrated by Kate Kellgren for Duke Classics. LOVED her voice and accent. Really breathed life in Austen's language and the different characters. This was my first full Austen read (or listen I guess, which is the same thing but better) and I'm looking forward to more. I also downloaded the audiobook for Stephen King's Bazaar of Bad Dreams but I'm probably only going to have it for 2-ish days to hear the best stories and then return it. Emma is next on the docket.
Drag Race Season 12 - finished this up. Fierce winner. All in all a pretty good season and a huge step up from S11. Really loved how the finalists got to produce their own chosen lipsyncs instead of it being strictly a boring series of elimination rounds which has been the template for a while. Still processing Crystal Methyd's "I'm Like a Bird"...
Drag Race All Stars 5 - booooooring. Made it four eps into this season and I had to put it down for now. Started feeling like an obligation watching it. There's Shea, Jujubee and Alexis Matteo and then there's everyone else. Some of the judging has been weird. Hard to believe that Katya got eliminated by Kennedy Davenport when Miz Cracker tied THAT lypsync with Kameron Michaels. I'll pick it back up of course, I can never stay away from Drag Race for too long.
Breaking Bad S1 (rewatch) - decided on impulse to start a rewatch because I've only seen the full show once. I've seen some of the early seasons more than once but Seasons 4-5 only once and those are the best. Finished Season 1 which feels veeeery short at seven episodes. Apart from that, Skyler's writing is atrocious this season (and so is Hank's tbh, I didn't remember him being so caricature-y in these early episodes), but that improves of course, and pretty quickly. Skyler's writing is already considerably improved at the beginning of S2. Tuco is still a blast. Can't help but feel short-changed by his limited screentime. He made such a huge impact and yet only appears in four episodes. Aaron Paul is phenomenal. Three eps into S2 already. Next up, "Down."
current musical obsessions
"You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" and "The Underdog" - Spoon
"Warm" - Charli XCX
"Coles Corner" - Richard Hawley
"Samson" - Regina Spektor
"Love Is a Bourgeois Construct" - Pet Shop Boys
