Staying up too late when I have to work again in the morning, so maybe I’m just grumpy. Not really excited about the trailer though.
It’s nice seeing Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas seemed cool in what little was seen of her, but the action didn’t seem that impressive, and the dialogue was mostly generic or awful.

Didn't even notice the generic nature of the dialogue because I was too focused on the utter blandness of the cinematography. The movie looks like a blob of concrete.

Releasing this on the same week as Mission Impossible trailer doesn't do it any favour.

Movie looks fine, I suppose, but Ryan Gosling just doesn't look like he's suited to deliver Russo Brothers / MCU style quips. Also this made me, lol.

Looks like abysmal, vacuous crap and yet there’s still a solid chance I end up wasting my time with this just for the cast.

It looks fine but it's complete weaksauce compared to the Mission: Impossible 7 trailer. That trailer is a masterpiece.

What a waste of a great cast, especially Gosling. Kind of devastating he's returning after 4 year's (after an incredible run) with something so bland that looks to totally underutlize his talents. This should also look a lot more fun than it does.

Damn....everyone's a critic, huh . Looks like a blast to me. I think this is the Russo Brothers lane....hi-octane action films, as opposed to would be indie-ish Oscarbait like Cherry. I think their Marvel work is some of the best stuff in that franchise, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in territory closer to Winter Soldier, away from Marvel. Chris Evans looks like he's indeed stealing the show as screening reports indicated, but I think it'll be fun to see him playing cat and mouse against Gosling.

the trailer makes this look generic af, but the screening reports have been really good, and I’ll put more stock into those than a trailer

Bland visuals. Cringe dialogue. Irritating music.
I hope the movie is better than this.

Reviews seem to be middling, but most critics are agreeing that Chris Evans steals the show and acts Ryan Gosling off the screen

So looking forward to the Chris only scenes on YouTube. Lol! A lot of this thread were people arguing whether Evans had the "chops" to outshine Gosling in this movie. I always maintained that he did, if you paid actual attention to what Evans has done. Stuff some people are dismissive of here, like his work as Captain America or even those turgid Fantastic Four films (where him and Michael Chiklis were the only good things about) , shows him to be a nuanced actor with serious range. It's not just the shit that gets you awards or prestige that defines your capability as an actor. Sometimes careers take different paths, not because of some disparity in talent or ability, but because some actor got different breaks and their career took a different direction. Austin Butler is a good example of that also.

I thought he was excellent in Gangster Squad and loved the weird choice to do a mickey mouse voice, but you'll see some people claim he was terrible in that movie. I don't agree at all.

Joe Russo is getting demolished on media over revealing he has the same level of intellect that of his audience.

Julian McMahon has played the same character in everything I've seen him in , and none of those characters is Doctor Doom . He just played his character from Nip/Tuck. Doom has yet to be done justice in a film.

Unfortunately, a terrible vocal choice (like a Mickey Mouse voice) or execution can completely ruin a performance for a lot of people. So I think people are kinda within their rights to think Gosling was terrible in Gangster Squad, because everytime he spoke, he took a lot of people out of the movie/character and had them wondering "why the fuck is he talking like that?".

He tried to sound like those actors from those old 40s movies but he missed the mark because his impression lacked rhythm.

I've never watched Nip/Tuck (or anything else with McMahon actually), so I can't agree or disagree, but you're right that we haven't yet seen a definitive Doom on film. Just saying that I found McMahon entertaining in the role regardless of its faithfulness to the character in the comics or its similarity to other characters McMahon has played.
