lol He won’t and that should be obvious to anyone who has seen any of their work. I've seen both their work. I think Evans is incredible as Captain America. To me it almost ranks up there with Christopher Reeve's work as Superman in the genre, especially in making an inherently dull and unrelatable character on paper, inspirational onscreen. I personally don't give a shit if you rate Evans performance in those Marvel movies or not (and that's not meant as an insult.I know many people overlook that standard of performances in those kind of films). But I do rate Evans in that part, and based on that I think he can easily act Gosling off the screen, in what is essentially a very similar genre type of movie. Don't @ me! I think Evans is a good actor, and have rated him since Sunshine (where he had a great final scene with some strong acting). I just don't think anybody has ever acted Gosling off the screen, including Anthony Hopkins, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Rosamund Pike, Russell Crowe, Evan Rachel Wood, etc. I think Michelle Williams had a better performance in Blue Valentine, but more because of her character's writing than her dominating a dramatic exchange through ability. Same with Emma Stone's audition scene being better than any of his solo scenes in LLL, because he's not really asked to do anything much. But whatever, Evans is underrated at this point, and I found his Captain America more interesting than RDJ's Stark (who peaked in the first Iron Man).

I was exaggerating for effect with the whole "act him off the screen" business . I'd agree, Gosling is very solid, and rarely disgraces himself (though I think he was embarrassing in Gangster Squad, and only saved by the fact that Sean Penn was so much worse, and he caught all the heat). I think I compared him to Jeff Bridges a few weeks back. Mainly for his inability to be consistant box office draw like Bridges. But one could also say he's consistent like Bridges as an actor (so far...we'll ignore Gangster Squad). But I don't neccesarily see him as an actor that always gives the dominant/best performance either, even as a lead. So even if he gives a good/solid performance, I don't think it's uncommon for a co-star to be better than him. I think Evans is more than capable of being better than him, but I expect Gosling will be at least good as well.

Congrats Dhanush. Hope he is not playing a stereotypical Indian. Randeep Hooda got a surprisingly solid part in Extraction. Hope Dhanush's role is more akin to that.

........... deadline.com/2020/12/the-gray-man-production-delay-covid-russo-brothers-netflix-1234659302/ EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has pushed the pause button on The Gray Man while the picture is in pre-production, out of Covid concerns. I’ve heard that while sets are being built in Long Beach, there were a few positive tests as Netflix goes through rigorous protocols, though insiders deny this was the reason for the push. The film is the biggest-budget tentpole Netflix has made so far, with Avengers: Endgame‘s Joe and Anthony Russo directing Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in a mano a mano espionage thriller. It was scheduled to begin shooting mid-January — cast wasn’t scheduled to gather until the new year — but crew has been told that the picture will be delayed at least two weeks, just out of caution for what is happening in the state and across the country.

I just realised how much I missed the days when Thornton was doing more movies. I have a feeling like these will be nothing roles but still nice to see him and Alfre in a big project like this.

I can totally see Billy Bob and Alfre as rival handlers for Evans and Gosling.

This movie has been test screening this week. And apparently (as I kind of expected/predicted) Chris Evans getting the strongest reactions in screenings for his performance over his more prestigious co-star Ryan Gosling. We'll see if that holds up when it's out and properly reviewed, but I was very confident that Evans could dominate this film, even with Gosling as co-lead.
As I said, Evans is making the right moves of all the Hollywood Chrises to potentially get that major breakthrough as a prestige actor ( once thought it might be Pine first, and he's shown promise, but I feel his window might be closing). Stealing a movie from one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation in Gosling would be a strong notch on his belt. And if he manages to pull off that Gene Kelly biopic....he could become a prestige thing as well.

Man, ain't no way Evans outshines my boy Gosling. Ain't no way!!! At best he'll be a pleasant surprise or something, like Jonah in Wolf, where they hyped him as stealing the movie when he was good but any one of Leo's speeches was far grander than his entire performance.

At best he'll be a pleasant surprise or something, like Jonah in Wolf, where they hyped him as stealing the movie when he was good but any one of Leo's speeches was far grander than his entire performance. As I've been saying on this thread for the last 2 years or whatever, this movie is waaaay more in Evans element than Gosling's ( shit, it's even being described by some people who saw it at the test screening as being like Captain America: Winter Soldier). Evans has been crushing it in this type of hi-octane action thriller genre thing for close to 15 years now. He's been working with great actors in his own franchise for years, and still been dominating the screen. Plus, he has worked with the directors for years. Add to the fact that Evans is in fact a very talented and charismatic actor, who is underrated by some because he hasn't done much "prestige/oscar" type stuff (like Gosling) in his career, and the likelihood of him owning this movie, even opposite Gosling, was always extremely strong. Evans had too many cards stacked in favor and people (and Gosling fans) have just made the mistake of underestimating how good an actor Evans actually is. I'd prepare myself for Gosling to come off second best in this film if I were you, as early screenings reactions are indicating

Gosling is no Cruise or Pitt. I'd be very surprised if Evans who's playing action hero for a while didn't outshine him.
