It ends ...........win or lose ..........in the first era at least ............ in 100+ days (113 iirc).
So 2016-now.....not necessarily "the best" but it could be that too........films/books/TV/music anything that you feel spoke to right now - even if they weren't set in this time................... MAR intersects with this era too 2017 to now.....
Doesn't have to be all of these .....just something released in the era itself.....and doesn't have to be pro/con on Trump just reflective of the era/past few years for you.
Film - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) - Encapsulates our cancel culture in a lot of ways or at least our unwillingness to talk or acknowledge or engage - without forgiveness........... just increased suffering and sorrow.
RU: Burning, The Irishman, Parasite
Book - Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI (2017) - In the way a horrible, unspeakable crime is covered up - it's the "Art of the Deal" at its most sinister.
TV - American Vandal (2017/2018) - Did a great job of capturing the absurdity and "you can't make this up" feel of our world in this recent era.
Music - Jeff Rosenstock (2016/2018/2020) - Over 3 marvelous albums (Worry/Post/No Dream) offered a nervous and anxious depiction of sensory overload and being informationally overwhelmed.
Song - "I Blame Society" Titus Andronicus (2019) - my 2019 single of the year which speaks for itself :
"And I blame society For poisoning the seed That grew the vilest tree So we could be its leaves"

First Reformed - moral absolutism, spiritual dearth, death of institutions, lost youth, Earth as an ugly fallen paradise (doubling as a comment on modern America). Aims too high maybe but hits all the notes at one point or another.

From last year, I think both Parasite and Booksmart feel like two perfect syntheses of the 2019 zeitgeist. Parasite, of course, captures so well the tensions between class that are increasingly more discussed. And Booksmart, with the way it handles gender and sexuality, feels like a 2019 utopia that dialogues in a more optimistic fashion with this social landscape.

The TV show that has been intentionally trying to capture what's like to live in the Trump era (and for the most part, succeeding) it's The Good Fight.
I also agree with suggestion of First Reformed as a good symbol of this era. Parasite is great as well, but I think it could have been made 10 years ago and not change that much.

Arrival was made before the Trump Era began, but being released right around the election, its themes of xenophobia and communication ended up being more prescient than ever.

......since the Supreme Court is exercising some wicked power - they have a session today too - it's clear the "Trump Era" isn't over just because he lost ......so what have we had in the last couple of years then - that sums up our current feeling? I wasn't quite as big a fan of "The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)" as some on MAR - though it made my top 10 and I loved the beginning (especially) and the end - the middle to me is where it falters a bit. It totally can be read as a commentary on the Trump era and was even talked about in that way during its release. Also........I think my beloved "Censor (2021)" my number 2 of 2021 could be read as a Trump era film too - where the lead character / country deludes themselves that they are fine - through "Censor-ing" their past - until at the end they can not distinguish between what was fantasy and reality, truth and lies and reality consistently bubbles up and recontextualizes the past, repeatedly.
