I'm intent on making one for every year from 1972-2006.... my personal golden era of cinema, though I dunno if I can persist on that treacherous task.
2006 was the year where I probably saw more films than any other year but yet I still don't think I'd consider it one of my favorites despite the sheer volume of films I've seen.... like over 100? It's not a bad year by any stretch but behind 2000, 2002, 2003 for sure. Behind 2004, 2005 and 2007 for most categories except the Top 2 films. Only Lead Actress and that Top 2 films is untouchable.
Best Picture
1. Marie Antoinette 2. Miami Vice 3. 300 4. Still Life 5. A Scanner Darkly 6. Syndromes and a Century 7. Casino Royale 8. When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts 9. Time 10. Renaissance
(I could rearrange the last 3 with Half Nelson, After the Wedding, and Letters from Iwo Jima, but that Top 7 feels like my favorite 7.)
Lead Actor
1. Will Smith - The Pursuit of Happyness 2. Rolf Lassgard - After the Wedding 3. Ryan Gosling - Half Nelson 4. Mads Mikkelsen - After the Wedding 5. Christian Bale - The Prestige
Lead Actress
1. Judi Dench - Notes on a Scandal 2. Ashley Judd - Bug 3. Naomi Watts - The Painted Veil 4. Kirsten Dunst - Marie Antoinette 5. Tao Zhao - Still Life
Supporting Actor
1. Robert Downey Jr. - A Scanner Darkly 2. Keanu Reeves - A Scanner Darkly 3. Bill Nighy - Notes on a Scandal 4. Dustin Hoffman - Perfume 5. Clive Owen - Inside Man
Supporting Actress
1. Mia Kirshner - The Black Dahlia 2. Hilary Swank - The Black Dahlia 3. Cate Blanchett - Notes on a Scandal 4. Emily Blunt - The Devil Wears Prada 5. Stine Fischer Christensen - After the Wedding

how is Maribel Verdú so underappreciaited on this board? Y tu mamá también are Pan's Labyrinth are widely beloved and yet I rarely see Verdú in these types of lineup threads for either of them. I don't get it
