DeadlineThe article goes in-depth about how they worked out the safety guidelines. I hope we get more smaller scale movies ( and we probably will, as they're more "manageable") from A listers especially......

Given what a horrible hack Levinson is, I can't wait to see a film based on a script he wrote in 6 days and directed in two weeks...

Even if it does not turn out to be an outstanding work, the concept of how it was made seems really interesting and I'll keep an eye on it. I'm fairly optimistic 'cause I really like Euphoria and Zendaya's acting in it, but this could be just a more experimental film (which is good as well).
And yeah, it'll be interesting to see if more smaller, introspective movies will be made next year. Could be a nice way to turn the weird circumstances into a new territory to explore.

i have no personal thoughts on this project as i havent seen anything hes done but i am glad to see hollywood is making true on everyone's predictions of making the worst sounding movies about it right out the gate. like really, what is there to say about the pandemic that a feature length film by millionaires is going to address right at this moment? their irrelevancy is something that's only become pronounced with it.

It's promising that using precautions and following safety guidelines makes creating films doable during this. Not just in our personal lives, but this has caused everything to really scale back. It's going to be so interesting how all mediums will be changed long term.

That age gap is gross. Hard pass. Not super uncommon for people in their early 20s to date someone in their 30s.

That age gap is gross. Hard pass. Are we really still going ahead with this line of thinking??? Ffs. As long as they're both consenting adults, who gives a flying fuck. And like Pittsnoggle said, this is a pretty damn common age gap in the real world anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if there were at least a couple of people on here with parents who are 10-15 years apart. Can we please stop perpetuating this bullshit that a couple have to be close in age, it's not fair on either side of the couple as we saw recently with Braff and Pugh. Also, if you hate this, you must fucking detest Lost in Translation or Ozark or Call Me By Your Name.

Seems to me a stupid move. They already have contenders for Actor in Boseman, Oldman, and Lindo. Why adding another one??

We don't know if it's a bigger play for Zendaya or JDW.Zendaya just came of a Best Actress Emmy win. She's got some awards heat and credibility now, and I think Best Actress is a weaker category ( Davis looks the current frontrunner, but she doesn't seem as undeniable as Boseman). It feels extremely unlikely to me that JDW can present a serious threat to Boseman , even if he is very good. But Zendaya could suddenly make the Best Actress race pretty interesting if she's bringing something to the table.

Netflix keeps trying to win the game by virtue of sheer numbers and trying to overwhelm the ballot, but honestly, 2021 is going to be thinner on the ground for competition for both categories, and they could probably build on a possible Zendaya campaign the same year she has a tentpole blockbuster with Dune.

I think the lack of competition this year in Best Actress makes this as good a time as any to try and see if they can run an Oscar campaign for Zendaya. It's pretty slim pickings. You got Davis and McDormand at the top. But after that, you got a bunch of "maybes" that could easily miss as their films are not must sees or anything. Kirby, Mulligan, Loren. Streep in a possible filler nod. Unknowns like Day who haven't been fully seen. Things like Ammonite that have almost no passion behind it would be DOA in stronger years, but even Winslet is still in with a chance of getting in because there is no consensus outside the top 2. I think her coming off her Emmy win for Euphoria, plus Best Actress feeling quite easy to break into make it better to try this year. I think she has as much awards heat right now as she's ever had in her career because of the Emmy, and I'm not sure her having what might possibly amount to a thin supporting role in a would-be Sci-Fi fantasy blockbuster like Dune would neccesarily do her any favors in an Oscar bid.

Because this is an original content filler not an awards player most likely........we like to think everything is about awards but it's not - it's about money/viewership. Unpopular opinion: Don't believe the hype about this year being deeper than next year........it's not.......if you had a genuine awards player you could steal it this year more so than next I reckon - especially with a vaccine around the corner and the possibility that the Academy extends the 2021 deadlines too, to accomodate post-production.
