I thought it would be interesting to go back and try to determine which films would have filled out the field of 10 Best Picture nominees. For years with 9 nominees, you can only select 1 option. For years with 5, you will be able to select 5 options. Some years will be more obvious than others and some will have more options. This isn't based on personal preferences. These are realistic options based on precursor support and other Oscar nominations. Here are the choices- The Big Sick - 1 Oscar nom, PGA, SAG
Blade Runner 2049 - 5 Oscar noms, 8 BAFTA nominations The Disaster Artist - 1 Oscar nom, Golden Globe
I Tonya - 3 Oscar noms, PGA, Golden Globe Molly's Game, 1 Oscar nom, PGA
Mudbound - 4 Oscar noms, SAG
Previous results2019 - Knives Out (22 votes).
2018 - If Beale Street Could Talk (18 votes) and Cold War (14 votes)

It's kind of surprising Mudbound didn't receive more support this year. 97% on RT, 85 on MC. Baity.

I, Tonya feels like the tenth nominee, but it should've been Blade Runner 2049.

I, Tonya probably. We nearly had a year when all of the Best Actress nominees came from a BP nominee.

I would love to say Blade Runner 2049, which is the second best film of that year, but it would have been I, Tonya.
