in 24 hr, breaking the record held by Avengers: Endgame, is this Indian film called Dil Bechara, based on the book The Fault in Our Stars.linkReason? the film's lead guy Sushant Singh Rajput recently committed suicide and the topic has been a nationwide phenomenon at least on social media. Indian twitter is trending various hastags mourning his death, condemning Bollywood.. even asking for a CBI investigation. I don't know much about the background details and bad factors involved in death. I'd like Drish or @dexter to shine some light on this topic.

There were nasty blinds released against Sushant, calling him difficult to work with and worse, a sexual harraser. None of these were true, but it still badly damaged his reputation. Karan Johar is mostly responsible for commissioning these blinds and Rajeev Masand writes them. Also, he lost out a lot of films to star kids/products of nepotism. KJo's toxic nepotism-favoured system has curbing a lot of outsiders from getting decent work and Sushant, despite his popularity, was no exception. There's a whole lot of discussions going on about the circumstances of his passing; many suspect of foul play (with good evidence of such), that's why so many are demanding a CBI investigation. I saw the trailer today and my heart broke, knowing that we will be never able to see him again. I still can't believe he's gone.

Didn't knew it was this bad. They didn't want a no name Bihari guy rising in the ranks and bursting into their bubble? Is that what this is all about?

Didn't knew it was this bad. They didn't want a no name Bihari guy rising in the ranks and bursting into their bubble? Is that what this is all about? Most likely. Sushant was very intelligent and passionate about science and astronomy, and made a name for himself in the industry without the backing of any godfather. KJo and his gang didn't like that. I don't think people would be so passionately asking about a CBI investigation if there weren't any noticeable loopholes and the industry people just peacefully expressed their condolences, like with Irrfan Khan, and honestly admitted to how they let outsiders down. But there's quite a few loopholes, none of the industry bigwigs are bothering to own up (in fact, some are writing PR articles painting themselves in a good light and sometimes even slandering SSR, and shutting down their comments section and other shit) and Sushant made it very clear how much he was displeased with industry politics.

calling him difficult to work with and worse, a sexual harraser. Damn, so Bollywood's Ansel Elgort? This role is cursed.

The fake and disproven blinds tried to portray him as such, but he was genuinely a good person who got trapped in a smear campaign. Nothing comparable to Ansel's situation.

I think everyone is heartbroken and the high IMDb rating is out of respect for his memory.

Have you guys seen the movie? Want an honest opinion. Yeah that super high rating is obviously biased and I see nothing wrong in it. My friends have watched it and they said while it doesn't really work as a movie, it is a fitting tribute to SSR, who's very charming here. I can totally see him being thousand times better than that Ansel guy. I, for one, cannot watch this for now.

People becoming anti-nepotism (just look at the backlash Gunjan Saxena got) and Mahesh Bhatt being rather... dubious (long story, but he may have a hand in both Jiah Khan and Sushant's deaths among other shady shit).

Alia is a good actress and i don't have a problem with talented folks even when they're products of Nepotism. It is the likes of Arjun Kapoor who are being rubbed on us that needs to be shunned away. This is an over reaction and it will pass, me thinks.

It was kind of valid at first considering Bollywood's nepotism-favoured system really has damaged a lot of careers, but ever since it became obvious that nepotism or the big production houses had nothing to do with Sushant's death and Kangana is only trying to settle scores, not to give him justice, it's been reduced to hysterical overreaction, bullying and virtue-signalling all in the name of "justice"; they very things they were fighting against. I even saw people calling Rajat Barmecha (main lead in Udaan and a complete outsider in the industry) a "clout chaser" for just asking for basic amount of empathy and saying that the incessant amount of hatred Alia is getting is not okay. That was day I was done with this movement; who knows, people might just start calling Pankaj Tripathi a "sellout" just for acting in Gunjan Saxena.

I fucking hate indian entertainment media and all those gullible people who are being SO hateful towards starkids. The comments section on anything with them is an absolute shit show. And fuck Kangana. She's gone all out sabotaging these poor new actors. Her KJo bashing, I'm okay with but being so vitriolic towards Ranbir, Alia, Janhvi and others is unacceptable. And the people who suddenly want "justice".. fuck them too.
