Still leaning Mank ....Da 5 Bloods isn't a consensus builder at all in the way a BP needs to be and that weak sauce 54% audience score on RT - whatever the "reason" for it - will matter and is going to creep into the Academy perceptions. Mank at least is a Hollywood film - it's going to appeal to actors, writers, directors....and when the movies come back, Hollywood is going to look back on its past I reckon and celebrate itself.

I think I jinxed Tenet, so not voting for it again until we finally know one way or another about it.
I guess I’ll stick with something safe like News of the World that’s not Netflix. On paper, this seems like it should be their year, and this is probably nutty of me, but with the other studios having to reshuffle things more than once as the first wave in the US seems never-ending, I think the biased against Netflix will get even worse at least for this year.
Of course I’m assuming that sometime this fall, theaters will be reopen in the US, but who knows at this point. I don’t think they’ll cancel the Oscars, but I’ve been wondering if they’d ever combine this year and next year together if the crisis continues to go on.

I hope they don't do that because I see it as a cheat. Just let the chips fall. Even if they do have to go the VOD route, there is no rule that states they can't re-release the movie in the theatre at a later day. People will still go see it if it is worth seeing.

Da 5 Bloods is far too divisive to win.
The audience scores on RottenTomatoes, Google, IMDB, and Letterboxd are all below average.
I'll say Mank for the time being.

shouldn't Hamilton be in here?

shouldn't Hamilton be in here? Remember, I don't determine the films listed in the poll, the board does. Now with your suggestion, it will show up in next month's poll. To maintain poll integrity, I go based on how we vote so if we continue to vote for Blonde even though we found out it has a 2021 release date then we are not paying attention.

shouldn't Hamilton be in here? Well it has about as much chance as Never Rarely Sometimes Always so...

I know. I’m just keeping it in the conversation for now. IMO it’s the earliest lock for a BP win that I’ve ever seen since following the Oscars in 2006.

Black is King has a runtime of 85 mins per IMDb. It is eligible and the front runner at this point.

Black is King has a runtime of 85 mins per IMDb. It is eligible and the front runner at this point. You are literally the only person who keeps calling it a frontrunner and a lock to win etc. Let's just wait until it actually comes out.
