Don't get me wrong, I've been banging the drum for Keaton to return to the role in hopes of a live-action Batman Beyond . . . but man, I really think they screwed the pooch with Ben Affleck. For my money, he's been my favorite live-action take on the character, as he's the only one that I thought perfectly encompassed all elements of Bruce Wayne and Batman without me thinking there was anything lacking in the portrayal. He obviously is good at playing the profligate playboy aspect of Wayne (although he never actually got to do much of that), and he's physically imposing enough that I found him more convincing in the suit than any of his predecessors. I think what they needed to do with Affleck is what they seem to be doing with Pattinson. Hell, if I had my druthers, Affleck would've gotten a standalone '50s-era hardboiled noir incarnation, with Irons (who is my favorite Alfred because of how robust he is, as much as I think Caine ruled in his trilogy) as (in my mind) a World War I vet who is still sprightly enough to kick ass. The DCEU really did wrong by Affleck, and I hate that he's been reduced to so many sad (but hilarious) memes. The one good thing to come out of Affleck rolling snake eyes on Batman is the franchise won't keep him from doing other things. I eagerly await him going back to the director's chair. As the one guy here who loves Live By Night, I agree. But man, I would've loved to have seen an Affleck-helmed solo Batman movie.

Don't know where to put this, but it sounds like they have plans to have Keaton return for a solo movie as well. I'm assuming a Batman Beyond or Dark Knight Returns film. Keaton would also allow them to adapt Kingdom Come (a future DC universe story pretty beloved by fans where an older Batman plays a crucial role). I can see them transitioning Keaton into a universe more resembling Kingdom Come, than The Dark Knight Returns or Batman Beyond. As someone who isn't generally into Justice League and prefers standalone Batman stories, I'd be very interested to see what a Kingdom Come adaptation would look like in the right hands. They've already introduced the crucial Billy Batson character in Shazam (which I haven't actually seen yet), though I suppose incorporating his character might involve a tonal shift from that film, which seems rather lighthearted in its approach.

Well, if this Grace Randolph report proves accurate, it looks like we may be getting Keaton in a Batman Beyond scenario. Except training a young Barbara Gordon as Batgirl instead of Terry McGuinness
I swear to god, nobody at WB seems to actually like DC comics (or it's animated division) as they always treat the source material as some inconvenience that needs to be made "better". Barbara Gordon should have been leading the Birds Of Prey. She didn't need to be a female Terry McGuinness and have his story as her own.

And I doubt Terry McGuinness, being a fictional cartoon character will give a flying fuck if I spell his made-up name like the tasty Irish beer (and more common variation of that last name). You get the gist, yaddayadda .Still sounds the same, right Forever more, I'm probably going to always spell Terry's name as McGuinness, just to be willfully stubborn and annoy anyone who actually gives a shit

What a wonderful way to highlight the issues of social media (and by extension social media journalism), where extrapolation and conjecture are treated as the same as actual sources and research.

Obviously nostalgia is a pretty strong reason he’ll always be my favorite Batman, but things like this also help.

Is this The Flash thread? Sasha Calle (a recent Daytime Emmy nominee for The Young and the Restless, her only work, nearly 300 eps) is playing Supergirl and playing hard to get... Sooo..... does this impact those rumors (We Got This Covered sources) that Cage was gonna show up here as Superman from an alternate timeline....

I love that every creative choice made for this ultimately undermines Ezra Miller as The Flash.

Ahhhhnh insert all the excited gifs!!!!!!!!!! That's a great wig. Keaton makes such a distinguished looking older Bruce Wayne/Batman. He would have absolutely crushed it in a faithful adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.

He was around 50 or something like that iirc. Otherwise, I agree with you. (Actually, Ben Affleck in BvS was supposed to be a DKR Bruce Wayne of sorts.)

I always saw TDKR Batman as someone pushing 60.
