At first i thought it would be like the Flashpoint scenario where Thomas Wayne is the Batman but after reading the article i think Keaton may be playing Bruce Wayne himself albeit an older one, in multiple movies. I'm a bit lost here.

I would rather have a "Batman Beyond" film with Keaton. I was going to say the same thing. Who cares about The Flash anyways?

Affleck again? Three Batmen in two films? This is may be a comic nerd's wet dream but the GA are going to be scratching their heads when these films release.
Personally i'd like Pattinson to take the mantle and be the Batman for the foreseeable future. Animation would be right platform for a Bat-verse kinda thing. Wouldn't mind Keaton in the Flash film though given the subject matter.

Don't know where to put this, but it sounds like they have plans to have Keaton return for a solo movie as well. I'm assuming a Batman Beyond or Dark Knight Returns film.

Don't really see them doing The Dark Knight Returns since BvS and Rises cover similar ground..... but I would kill to see a live-action Batman Beyond. I've said this before, but I kind of wish Pattinson were playing Terry McGinnis instead of Bruce Wayne because I think he fits that role a lot better. Keaton and Pattinson in a Batman Beyond film would be like a dream come true.

I think an almost literal adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns ( with the female Robin, Gangs Of Mutants etc) with Keaton would prove anticipated enough that not many would care if BvS and Rises loosely borrowed a few elements to tell their own story. And Miller has done a couple of sequels to The Dark Knight Returns, so there is a lot of story to mine from the world he created. But yeah, I can also see them using Keaton to set up a live action Batman Beyond.

Keaton would also allow them to adapt Kingdom Come (a future DC universe story pretty beloved by fans where an older Batman plays a crucial role). I can see them transitioning Keaton into a universe more resembling Kingdom Come, than The Dark Knight Returns or Batman Beyond.

Hey, AT &T are pretty much scrapping the DC comics line, so they're gonna use whatever stories left they can get Yeah, Miller's sequels are all over the map, but a good screenwriter can take whatever good bits there are to use, throw out the shit stuff and make something new that does it's own thing. It's pretty much what they are doing with The Boys on TV, which takes a lot from Garth Ennis comics, but ditches an awful lot of the indulgent and unusable crap that would probably suck or feel dumb in live action.

Don't get me wrong, I've been banging the drum for Keaton to return to the role in hopes of a live-action Batman Beyond . . . but man, I really think they screwed the pooch with Ben Affleck. For my money, he's been my favorite live-action take on the character, as he's the only one that I thought perfectly encompassed all elements of Bruce Wayne and Batman without me thinking there was anything lacking in the portrayal. He obviously is good at playing the profligate playboy aspect of Wayne (although he never actually got to do much of that), and he's physically imposing enough that I found him more convincing in the suit than any of his predecessors.
I think what they needed to do with Affleck is what they seem to be doing with Pattinson. Hell, if I had my druthers, Affleck would've gotten a standalone '50s-era hardboiled noir incarnation, with Irons (who is my favorite Alfred because of how robust he is, as much as I think Caine ruled in his trilogy) as (in my mind) a World War I vet who is still sprightly enough to kick ass. The DCEU really did wrong by Affleck, and I hate that he's been reduced to so many sad (but hilarious) memes.

The one good thing to come out of Affleck rolling snake eyes on Batman is the franchise won't keep him from doing other things. I eagerly await him going back to the director's chair.

Keaton as the OG movie Batman that has attained a mythical status with fans only Bale comes close to will give WB some much needed fan cred, after a string of disappoints (not least being their latest Wonder Woman 1984).

That may have moved the needle. That being said, I’m fine with him moving on from the role.

I just think that DC had a masterstroke when they cast Affleck, and then utterly and completely squandered it. But at least we got that workout sequence in Batman v. Superman which was actually convincing in how someone like Bruce could keep in shape. Also, I should note that I recently replayed Arkham Asylum, and was imagining Affleck in the role (albeit set in the '50s, Shutter Island-style) and it was glorious to envision.
