I am talking about Oscar, Critics Choice, Golden Globes, Guilds, and BAFTAs.
What are the critics saying about the film?
Rotten-Tomatoes - 71% favorable rating, 6.6/10 critical mean Broadcast Film Critics - 81/100
Overall, the reviews are solid. It's viewed as a good film, not a great one. The Jungle Book (88/100 on BFCA, 95% on RT) and Cinderella (84/100 on BFCA, 83% on RT) were viewed more favorably than BATB.
Awards Attention for the previous two live-action adaptation:
Cinderella - BAFTA, Guild, Critics Choice, and Oscar nominations for Best Costume Design.
The Jungle Book - Won BAFTA, Guild, Critics Choice, and Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It was also nominated for best film editing for a comedy/musical at the EDDIE awards, and Best Sound at the MPSE Golden Reel Awards.
What advantage does BATB have over Cinderella and TJB?
Box-office. BATB has already grossed over 300 million dollars in the domestic box-office in two weekends. TJB grossed about 364 million total. Cinderella only grossed 201 million. Yes, "only" is correct. I highly doubt the movie is going to be forgotten. It's probably going to rival the amount of money Star Wars Episode 8 will make.
I am going to say, its award contention will be:
Art Direction Costume Design Sound (editing or mixing) Song Visual Effects Score Emma Watson (maybe)
I don't see any screenplay or picture consideration, but I would think it should get more awards attention than Cinderella and TJB.
What do you think?

Production and Costume Design will be in consideration.
Maybe one of the new songs as well.
That's it.

Costume Design I'm relatively confident about. Maybe Production Design too. Original Song is a long shot. Don't see it getting anything else.

Art Direction and Costume Design are sure bets. VFX is a maybe. But Best Actress... I hope this year is not that depressing.

Possibly costumes or song, but I don't really think it deserves either.

I can see the film getting Production Design and Costume Design nominations for sure. It could also get an Original Song nomination for "Evermore" as well if they play their cards right. I wouldn't be surprised if it got Sound Editing, Sound Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and/or Visual Effects nominations. I'm not sure if it will get an Original Score nomination, since the majority of the score comes from Alan Menken's previous Oscar-winning score from 1991. For the Golden Globes, I can see Disney pushing it for a Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical nomination for the Golden Globes, as well as nominations for Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in Actor and Actress in their respective GG categories.

This movie is a shameless money-grab. Thus, it's not art and shouldn't be awarded as such.
My $0.02.

I think it has a good shot in several technical categories such as costumes, production design and effects. I also think it has a solid chance for song.
All that just nominations I don't think it will win in the end.

Maybe a few tech nods, but I don't think it deserves anything else.

It is a pretty shitty film and the year will have to be incredibly poor if this ends up getting nominated for anything other than techs. Forget about trying to pretend Watson should be taken at all seriously. Are people's standards that low?
