Last month, we lost Nomadland and we added no new movies to the pot.
Last month's winner: Tenet.

Since there is going to be a Spike Lee movie in the race are there any movies about a black and a white person driving around and becoming friends that we need to look out for?

I guess I'll stick with Tenet.
I know Da 5 Bloods is getting great reviews so far and will probably win one acting award depending on where Lindo is submitted, and he might even win lead if he went there, just seems too easy though especially in June when Lee just won a major Oscar two years ago. Since AMPAS has never really been big fans of his, it would seem strange to me that he's able to win screenplay and then go on a few years later and win Best Picture and maybe even Best Director. It's definitely possible, but I don't want to jinx anything.
I thought that BlacKkKlansman had the "importance" factor, and kept scoring major nominations all awards season, but it couldn't really ever gain traction except in Adapted Screenplay where it was fortunate that some other contenders didn't gain enough traction like If Beale Street Could Talk or gained it too late like Can You Ever Forgive Me? Then they went with something like Green Book in the end which was technically "important" while Bohemian Rhapsody ended up winning the most Oscars, so who knows what direction they could in the end. To be fair, it goes the opposite way too, as I never thought Parasite would win because honestly I didn't trust that they'd actually do something that cool, imo.

Pretty sure Blonde is 2021. Netflix moved it? I don't recall them ever delaying a film.

As of now, I can't imagine the Academy not giving the award a politically charged film, though that might change if Trump loses.

I think Bloods will peak too early. It is super big right now and will win a lot of awards and be remembered at the end, but I'm still on News of the World. Don't know much about it, but I've heard people saying that it has some political relevance (on what issues, I don't know). It may be coming too late though.
Edit: It will be just my luck for Bloods to win, being that I was the first guy to predict BlackKklansman and staying on that train for way too long.

This is a very good point, especially if the Oscars do indeed get pushed back to like April/May.

I should change my vote to The Last Duel now. Virtual direction is going to be Scott's narrative for Picture and Director. (And they'll award Matt Damon and Ben Affleck for having to get those bad haircuts again. ) Oscars 2021 Gets a Later DateActual footage of Ridley Scott virtual directing from his home already.

Honestly none of the options seem like potential winners right now. I know people are predicting Da 5 Bloods rn but it's too much like something which peaks early, and that has never worked in recent years. Get Out was the closest to something which won a main Oscar which was released early, but it was obviously able to sustain the momentum throughout, and even then it didn't win best picture. That said, Bloods IS quite timely, especially with the climate in the US currently. I'll believe in its chances for BP if it's able to sustain the momentum that long. That said, it might very well win some of the bigger Oscars, like Lindo, the directing oscar etc (unless it splits the Netflix vote with Fincher there and it goes to something else altogether).
The most likely BP options for now seem to be Da 5 Bloods and Mank, though, at this stage. Obviously we can't predict exactly who would win at this point, it would depend on how much momentum it has later in the season, but what the hell. Both Bloods and Mank have some cred on their side. For now I'm voting for Bloods, but depending on Mank's reception it could definitely change, like if Mank gets like even mid 80s MC sort of reception I would be very confident in its chances.

Da 5 Bloods is not a BP winner (BD winner......maybe.......maybe) - I liked it - but it's way too messy - and will leave too many cold - until something else emerges......Mank.
That 58% audience score on RT - and you can make all the excuses you want about WHY that is - is going to some degree be mimicked by the Academy it's not a consensus builder when others will be.

Seeing as how Cali reported 40% increase in cases overnight, we may wanna add Bad Boys For Life to this poll. For Real, though!!!
