A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer/director Ari Aster.
Rated R for "strong violent content, sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and language."

first reactions to this (these people were in the theatre to see the directors cut of midsommar, so take them with an EXTRA grain of salt compared to the already bias first reviews we see on twitter with other movies):

Of all of the icky personal motifs in film these days - Jordan Peele's tiresome "racism in every movie" ....or too many directors romanticizing the past etc......Ari Aster's mommy / parents / familial issues are possibily the most aggressively annoying........not saying this can't be good - Hereditary was half good and that was good enough....but this looks like a whole lot of work again........he's definitely working through some therapy issues with The Strange Thing About The Johnsons, Hereditary, Midsommar and this........dude wasn't hugged enough .....or was hugged too much

Speaking about punching yourself in the dick for 3 hours ..........from World of Reel and a sneak review from Christy Lemire and Alonso Duralde. Any movie get an "F" cinemascore and the star teams up with that director again? I am willing to bet that Ari Aster’s “Beau is Afraid” will get an F CinemaScore. I believe it would be the first time that this has happened since 2017’s “mother!” Both films, indulgently personal statements, would actually make for a deadly double-bill.www.worldofreel.com/blog/2023/4/9c1m3t2q2qy8z8cn823ntojwqzqyqj

The leaked early script screamed F Cinemascore. And I said the same for mother! when I read the script for that before the film was released.
