She is absolutely peerless right now - I said it in the poll and it was a great line if I do say so myself so I'll repeat it: She's at Huppert/Streep class level and even if you don't like those 2 names you know how seriously I take them at least and I don't throw out actor praise lightly do I? It would be a big collaboration indeed if it happens.......she's working at a frenzied almost unbelievable pace and Mrs. America is the best performance I've seen since Michelle Williams in Fosse/Verdon in movies or TV, male/female ......it's GOAT level stuff. I've stopped posting in that thread but I could post a lot more on that tour de force.

I actually don't care for Almodovar's films. I liked the lipsynch in Volver presumably homaging Blue Velvet, but most of his work has left me shrugging and underwhelmed.

A pairing with Almodovar would be a career high point!!
(How many upcoming projects does this woman have anyway?)

I've never been able to love an Alovodar film. Don't think even Blanchett could change that, but I'm open to persuasion.

Almodovar has made enough good films for me that I'm looking forward to his projects regardless of who's acting in them.

She’s slaying. That’s kind of undeniable to me. I don’t like her or her acting style much, but scrudpuppy’s constant downplaying/negative opinions on her career strike me as trying it at least, borderline disingenuous at worst, and mostly fueled by Kidman stanning.

Oh honeys, I had to lie down when my agent told me. I know you're all thinking that it should have been me (I'd have two Academy Awards, three BAFTAs, three SAGs, and three Golden Globes by now if Blannie hadn't stolen my career).
As a huge fan of Pedro (I've been learning Spanish for some time now), after Tilda (absolutely excellent in The Human Voice) then Blannie is the next best thing. Clearly, he knows who are the GOAT actresses of the 21st Century. This is a to die for experience for any actress and a very humbling experience. Pedro, if you read this, call me... Estás confundido!

Blanchett has played so many similar HBIC characters lately. It'd be nice to see her do something more subdued for a change, which Almodovar's characters often are.

It means they ran into each other at a party. possibly haha... though don't write it off so quickly, Agustin Almodovar's tweets have been very telling throughout the years, he gave a clue before Tilda and Pedro announced their collaboration.

Noooooooo
At this point the english movie I don't think it will happen, first Meryl/Munro, now Cate/Berlin, both matches made in heaven..... basically Pedro quit, right ? My advice would be that he needs to go and live for a couple of years in USA, Canada or wherever he wants to place the movie because there's always plenty of "random" cultural, historical, religious elements and interpersonal behavior/exchanges in his films that inform specific situations that maybe he thinks can't get away with in a different setting.
At least I hope that he continue making english language short films... with Julianne and Annette if possible

Oof what happened? He just did the Western short with Ethan Hawke..... Didn't go well? He always was a coward. One thing is a short that none will pay a ticket for it. And other directing a movie in other language. If he makes a movie in english will see all his strings thanks to the lost in translation. Seing a kitch movie in Spanish for Hollywood audiences is more exotic that seen it in English. I haven't seen last Woody Allen movie, but Allen movies in Europe are more postcards movies, than other thing. Wonderful directed and acted but too steryotipical.
