Rushing it a little on US time but ....... James Stewart is important enough. The only "pre-Brando" US actor we put on our GOAT top 10 list from - at number 8 - ahead of recent modern names like Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix - who were our highest ranking US actors since the 1970s. One of the most beloved of all actors and I'd remind people he won his Oscar for a comedy too - he had surprising range: Westerns, Suspense, Drama, Family Films, Comedy - a whole bunch of classic films across genres that still hold up. Favorite performances? Underrated or stories of him? The very great Vertigo (1957):

I always thought that this guy was Jimmy Stewart. I was around sixteen before I figured out that this was someone else.

I love him!!! Actor of the highest level. He could play drama, adventure, comedy... everything.
As I've said before, his Oscar for Philadelphia story was well deserved, this and It's a Wonderful Life are my favorite performances of his.
