How big are we thinking this will be? Obviously, we've yet to see a trailer or read any reviews, but on paper this seems like it could be big.
It'd be great if Larson could get a second nom, cementing her as more than just an ingenue one-time contender. I'd love it if Harrelson pulls out a tremendous performance and goes onto win. The role seems perfect for that to happen. I really hope Watts at least gets nominated, she's been through flop after flop lately, and needs a win.

Even if this doesn't end up being Larson's vehicle she already has another baity project line up. She's playing the first woman to run for President in the 1800s, Victoria Woodhull and apparently running for president was the least interesting aspect of this woman's life, it's an Amazon film, so it should be interesting to see what comes of this. As for "The Glass Castle", its likely that Brie would go supporting for the film, her character is like Ronan's from "Atonement", meaning that while she's playing the main character since the story covers several years the role is played by different actresses.

Tbh I doubt I've ever anticipated a movie as much as I'm anticipating The Glass Castle. Watts and Larson are basically my 2 absolute favorite people in the movies and to see them together would indeed be a joy (I really hope they've a loud fighting scene together, would be fun ). Besides, Short Term 12 is one of my all time favorite movies and in Destin I've hopes. I've a feeling Woody will steal this. Seems like something he'd nail. Anyway, I just want this movie to be good. As good as his previous movie, if not better. I'd be fine with no nominations but just hope the quality is great.

Is there any link? :/ Someone from AW saw it and said it doesnt really come together and it forces sentiment-- described it as a lesser Captain Fantastic Woody is supposed to be very showy, but we'll see how it plays at TIFF and Telluride, I suppose

I remember Room had similarly bad reactions early in the year, though. So did Selma, and Philomena, and so on and so forth.

Can be a solid contender this year. Actingwise and screenplay wise.

The screening reactions were not good and based on what Ive heard, reviews might be bad for this You usually have a lot of good early information to provide, but you've been wrong on a few Cannes possibilities these past few days, since the Lanthimos for instance will be ready in time. So hopefully you're wrong for this one too, because I'm anticipating it quite a bit.

I'm highly anticipating the movie, but I don't see it being a contender in such a crowded year.

Haha, yeah, from all the articles I read from Variety and Deadline, it seemed very obvious that Killing of a Sacred Deer wouldnt be ready-- even the poster from AW with Cannes ties who correctly predicted the wins last year, said it wasnt likely Welp, I got burned on that one! And the Linklater was never intended for Cannes (it seems more like a crowdpleaser for TIFF and Telluride), I was just speculating possibility since it's done early and has been testing

I remember that the Sundance program director once told me at a party (long story) that he hated the early cut of Short Term 12; told me it had changed substantially by the time it hit theaters. So perhaps the test screening reactions for this one should be taken with a grain of salt.

Obviously i dont have same story But Short Term 12 was rejected by Sundance, so maybe Cretton has post-production issues

Lets hope so. I'd love to see Sarah Snook steal the show.

I think it will depend on the release date for it to become a contender, but we should wait to see how it's received.
