An antiracism-themed Lovecraftian horror story is the ultimate contradiction. Never read the book. I wonder if Matt Ruff acknowledges that contradiction or if the novel's mere existence is a way of repossessing and converting Lovecraft's really problematic legacy. Very, very interested to see where this is going. Peele's involvement is especially intriguing.
Unfortunately a lacklustre finale after some very strong episodes throughout the season (the third being my favorite). Ignoring the book, it felt very rushed, convoluted and underwhelming. Is this being renewed? If so, I’d be curious what direction it would go in as it would be completely straying from the source material. Still, over all this was a good show with some incredible characters and performances.
