Very promising start in season 5. Already looks better than the previous one.
In other news, Steven Knight has confirmed that the show will end after season 7.

In other news, Steven Knight has confirmed that the show will end after season 7. Great news. Seems like a healthy number. No need to drag this out longer than it needs. Haven't seen any of S5 yet (not even sure where I could access it in the States? I guess torrents...), but for those who don't know: US Netflix release is October 4. Will surely be binging it then.

Great episode 2 in the fifth season. A new enemy is introduced and it seems there is a rat in the family.

Excellent season. Started off a bit routine but very tense and unpredictable at the end, although i cringed a bit at that lost shot. More focused on the politics this time. Cillian Murphy's great as usual. Sam Clafin was pretty good. Slick visuals too.
There's a surprise cameo btw.

Fiiiinally finished the season & it's as entertaining as ever. A bit less fresh/exciting than it felt a couple seasons ago ... I wouldn't say the show's begun to lose steam but it has stabilized in quality as opposed to continuing to get more expansive/ambitious, we kinda enter every new season now knowing exactly what we'll get ... and what we get is good shit but it's still kinda the same and a lot of what we've been treated to already. This season is at its best when it's focusing on Tommy's melancholy, and for that reason especially ep. 2 was the standout for me which was largely just a harrowing look at Tommy's depressive state as he continues to lose himself. It does fumble with the sociopolitical commentary, and while I really liked Clafin in his role as cartoonish Star Wars villain it goes without saying that his big speech was waaaaaaaaaay too on-the-nose. At least the end of the season does pull the rug out from under you and shakes things up -- just as you think we're seeing the same finale we've seen four times already yet again, we're treated to something new that hopefully shakes things up for real -- the last ten minutes of the finale were *insanely* rushed though, but, yeah, I still liked it as a conclusion and it definitely has me yearning for more. The cinematography and the soundtrack as always are top notch, you can never deny this show's style and the style is the show. It's kinda getting increasingly absurd but it's still oh-so-good.

Not enough drama this time but there's some action and Tommy gets even more ambitious. Cinematography and production design stepped up a lot. Not enough drama?? I thought it was one of the most heavy on it, and I liked it more than most of them on account of the more relatively streamlined nature of it. But Brody... Wow. I got used to him by the end, but in those early episodes it was embarrassing. I was thinking to myself "Dude, how many times you watched The Godfather before you started filming?" he made Tom Hardy's performance on this show look subtle and natural as a snowflake. Just finished binging the whole series, and yes - Brody and Hardy's performances are just abominations. Annabelle Wallis sounded like the Lucky Charms leprechaun, too (do you have this cereal in the UK? ) - her accent got worse as the show went on. As always, the icon Helen McCrory steals the entire thing. Love you forever, Queen.
