Really exhausted with this revising history stuff .......what if Sharon Tate lived next to Rick Dalton! .........what if Lindbergh won the 1940 election! What if pacinoyes just watched something else? On the other hand you never know........ Why does it bother you so much? Tbh I don't know why it doesn't bother other people more......there's the real world I know, and there's movies that reflect the real world - and some of those have been great........ and then there's concocting a whole fake world (for people who can't deal with the real world I guess?) and to me none of those have ever been great (unless I'm forgetting something?). Maybe it's just a simple matter of taste......we all have "genres" we don't really respond to no matter how broad minded we think we are, so maybe it's like that and I'm just too literal of a person (which is defiinitely true ). I think this playing with history can work in a book (and has), but on film it plays cheaply and as trivializing......I just can't recall it working for me off the top of my head. ...........and for this show specifically - I'd much rather see the black actor who had his career ruined story (real life: Paul Robeson) or the (rumored) lesbian actress who had her career ruined story (real life: Lizabeth Scott) than the pretend world of "what if they could have been stars!". But like I said, you never know, the show might surprise me.

I'm out already after episode 1.......this is so not for me......... actually it may set a record for how not for me it is..... Oh honey, I'm watching this now and I'm up to episode 3. I'm not sure... It makes everyone look so sleazy, sex obsessed and pushy. I keep wondering if Camille is supposed to be based on Dorothy Danbridge? The writing feels too SJW agenda driven, which is making it a bit of a yawn. That type of script kills off all spontaneity and seems predictable. I'm just waiting for them now to throw some lesbians into the mix... We've had everything else so cue the lesbians... Maybe it's just me, but I really feel that since Ryan Murphy started putting out so many shows the quality of his early work has really been diminished. I loved the first seasons of AHS.

Oh Legend - My problem with episode 1 was that Dylan McDermott is just doing my entire "talk about my penis at the bar" routine and I assure you that he will soon be hearing from my lawyer/urologist. Thoughts on Patti Lupone who is giving something like a campy Diana Dors approximation to a Jayne Mansfield imitation of your iconic Marilyn?

Oh honey, get back in your paddock... but you do have a point... you def have a boner to pick with them.
It was Patti's 'not making it in Hollywood for looking too jewey' speech that made me think this was going to be good. But sadly since that scene, she's had very little screen time.
Do you know how much vodka goes into scrambled eggs as I'm trying to cook breakfast for myself this morning?

I am not sure but I think the safe answer for how much vodka you put in eggs is just "All the vodka you have" - although to be honest that resulted in my vodka becoming all eggy tasting so I had to fire my illegal immigrant maid for that. What a mess that was - Heuvos Liquida is the name of the court case which ended with me being ordered by a judge to literally build a wall around myself and quarantine myself from her and eggs and chicken. It was complicated. Somewhat related to drunken sex and poultry, I may give some more episodes of "Hollywood" a look just for lawsuit purposes and to play a drinking game every time someones top improbably comes off......sure, I may hate myself in the morning but if you drink enough it's hard to tell when it's morning really. Loco patético is what my former illegal immigrant maid used to call me or something like that - but I do not speak Mexican and I was very drunk from the wildly over-saturated Vodka eggs at that time but I'm just repeating myself now or repeating myself now if you prefer.

Only watched the first couple of episodes, but I'm low key enjoying this, even though it's trashy nonsense. Some of the acting is diabolical though, the guy who plays Rock Hudson is truly terrible.

Oh honey, I'm not sure that he's not supposed to be bad: A kind of handsome but dumb ox.
I thought Samara Weaving (who looks like a Margot Robbie wannabe) and plays Claire Wood - that scene about going after the Peg role was also atrocious... like a really bad Betty Bacall impersonation. Really terrible and rubbishy acting... I just don't know why they didn't ask me.
You're right, it is trashy nonsense but it's kind of fun trying to guess who the characters are based on... and who of the famous ones they'll throw into the story. It's only 7 episodes and I'm really curious about Mira Sorvino as Jeanne Crandall. It would be criminal if they didn't use her more.

Oh honey, I know I shouldn't ask but did she ever do Huevos Rancheros? I think it involves a lasso and tying you up with rope... a Mexican way of scrambling your eggs, after a night of drinking copious Tequila. Popular with gringos in Tijuana, I've heard...
I'm watching for Mira Sorvino or that's what I'm telling myself so I'll feel less trashy.

Oh honeys, I've finished it now and rate it a low 6/10. Episodes 5 & 6 were good, but I hated the final episode and the lazy tidy up. Dylan McDermott & Patti Lupone were the stand outs for me. Their characterisations had presence and charisma. Some of the leads were just downright awful because they were so bland. The real hero was Harry, the film editor. I mainly gave it a 6 for the excellent production values. God, I hope they leave it there and don't make a second series.

I generally enjoyed it. It wasn't nuanced storytelling and there were some terrible casting decisions (Laura Harrier) but it was good fun and I've developed an infatuation with Joe Mantello, who was commanding and adorable in his role and I hope he receives an Emmy nomination this summer. I'd never heard of him before I watched this.

What did you guys think of David Coronswet in the lead role? He's Juilliard-trained, so he's obviously got the chops to go along with the looks - do you see him having a big career? He just seems like a more animated, "American" Jamie Dornan to me - obviously a compliment. https://www.instagram.com/p/B3--R7Hpm5f

Then again, he does have a juicy role.

Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes' popularity and power will never cease to confuse me.
Seriously, fuck these two and their brain cell-murdering stupid pieces of shit shows.
