One of the most impressive things I've ever seen on televison is the way he gets through this part of this interview with absolutely dignified, quietly skewering class.
Like, he'd have a much easier job with this today, but the way he's boxed in and still lays the smack down without breaking sweat is beautiful

Quite an achievement while alive especially: The great stage, film and TV actor James Earl Jones will once again see his name up in lights: Broadway’s 110-year-old Cort Theater is being renamed in Jones’ honor.
The Shubert Organization announced today that the venue will become the James Earl Jones Theatre “in recognition of Mr. Jones’s lifetime of immense contributions to Broadway and the entire artistic community.”deadline.com/2022/03/james-earl-jones-theatre-broadway-renaming-cort-shubert-1234968031/

Keep on rolling, King. Selling those voice rights to Disney made this last one a super productive one for him. Hope he got what that voice is worth.

Clip from his Tony winning perf in Fences (1987). I don't think we ever posted it. Only clip of this version available? Seems there are three cams here - where's the rest of the taping, I'd certainly watch it. Same scene from Denzel's (2010) is on Youtube too but that one is odd bc the audience is laughing the whole time, it doesn't stun you and break your heart like JEJ's...

One of the things often noted about him is how he's so humble. And even though he's James Earl Jones, he has the same doubts and insecurities as actors who are rookies. Going to throw in what is one of my favorite films to feature Black leads. Yes, I know Diahann Carroll got an Oscar nomination for it. However, today it is an overlooked gem from the 70s and he is a delight in it.
