I don't mean any songs that you find catchy, but true earworms that you absolutely cannot get rid of whether you like them or not...
Every time I hear this, it literally gets embedded in my brain for days:

One verse - a great one - no chorus, I sing this all day long after playing it - hey, why doesn't the song change much Paul?
Because as Woody Allen once said "Change equals Death"......

Not only was this a catchy ass song, but the video was sexy as hell. Kylie was a HUGE crush.

My favorite song by a female artist ever - and the Kirsty MacColl original version bitches NOT the Tracey Ullman cover version ......full of yummy pop goodness, hooks and a tough cookie too "No, I don't listen to their wasted lines" - she's repeats it at the end to be clear - get it?

The Smiths swiped it and made it less cool (for "Panic" which is their best song because it's sort of Rock and Roll by their very brazen theft), the insane opening howl is probably an approximation of the battle cry of the chronic masturbator or at least a gender confused war chant............. if you play this for a little kid and they'll love it, partially because the lyrics are beyond gibberish like they would maybe scribble in crayon. Possibly the greatest album opening track ever too which also defies rock criticism - even my own - but I didn't post it in that thread because I posted its great closer in THAT other thread.

For any classical music lovers out there... a ton of Mozart's music features infectious melodies, but since I've been revisiting his piano sonatas recently, this one in particular gets stuck in my head pretty easily. Jam-packed with multiple themes that are just so damn singable, but the melody at 1:11 especially because I just find myself whistling it incessantly after listening:
Melody writing didn't come as naturally to Beethoven, who is more known for the inventive ways he would develop and transform themes rather than the themes in and of themselves.... but this is probably among the catchiest things he ever wrote:

When I think "stupidly catchy" these are the two songs that come to mind, in the sense that they are the most absurd examples of something being so catchy and musically inane.

Could be in the funny artists thread too - he was quite a character and of course most people know him around here for his Goodfellas song with a frantic, coked up Ray Liotta .........@waterloobridge is a fan iirc

pacinoyes hot take - Green was a better album than the far more praised 3 that followed it: Out of Time (meh), Automatic For the People (blah) and Monster ( ) and one of the reasons was this song which was goofy, likable and catchy. A lot of people hate this song too.........whatever! Grrrrr.....
