I was wondering if this was ever gonna happen this year! I'll send my ballot in soon since I've caught up with just about everything for 2019. Might watch one more doc first.
Also I second themoviesinner 's FYC of Bartosz Bielenia in Corpus Christi, though I'll go a step further and recommend the film as well. I thought it was just the random token nod in Foreign at the Oscars last year, but it might actually have been the best of the nominees. Seriously give it a go, it's tremendous and Bielenia's performance is a tour de force.
Here are some more FYCs:
Waves for everything, but particularly Supporting Actor/Supporting Actress (Kelvin Harrison Jr & Taylor Russell respectively), Film Editing, Soundtrack, and Sound Mixing. Shit, everything honestly. Just watch this one please.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire for everything, particularly Lead Actress (Merlant) and Supp. Actress (Haenel) and Cinematography
Luce for Picture, Lead Actor (Kelvin Harrison Jr), Supp Actress (Watts & Spencer), and Adapted Screenplay
Under the Silver Lake for Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, & Original Score
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood for Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay
Greener Grass for Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design, & Lead Actress (Jocelyn DeBoer, pictured left)
Glass for everything, but realistically AT LEAST get James McAvoy a nomination for Supp. Actor please! If we can do it for Split, why not for the infinitely better performance?!
And of course my favorite performance of last year, and one of the best of the decade: Lupita Nyong'o in Us
Other FYCs that are a bit more obvious, but want to mention anyway:
