Inspired by Parasite winning the Best Picture earlier this year, I've started writing a blog series that compares each Oscars top accolade winner with the winner of the Best Foreign-Language Feature that same year to see how often, if at all, the Anglosphere should have lost out.
I've written two so far: 2019's Green Book versus Roma, and 2018's The Shape of Water versus A Fantastic Woman. Next is 2017's Moonlight versus Iran's The Salesman.
Interested to hear if anyone has any BFLF favourites for me to look forward to, as I run through them in reverse chronological order. There's a few big hitters that reached western audiences (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Life is Beautiful probably the most prominent besides Roma), but many of them I will be coming to completely fresh!
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the showdowns I've published so far, so I won't for now.
