I'll be honest, he has been over-rewarded in these last years especially for The Revenant.
No interest in seeing this new film or him getting other undeserved Oscars.

I'm going to presume so. It's going to be filming for most of July, if it doesn't extend into August, and that will just leave around 4 months for post-production if they want to get it out this year. This looks like a big movie, so I think Inarritu will prefer to take his time and have it come out next near. |

Wonder if film history will look back at him in retrospect as a mad genius or just an unstable filmmaker. My guess is the latter is more likely, and he can't keep getting away with this behavior, similar things happened during the making of The Revenant. If the film is good, genius. If it's bad, unstable. That's generally how it goes. James Cameron is a well-known tyrant on set by his own admission, never goes against him. Kubrick drove Shelley Duvall so crazy that her hair started falling out, doesn't stop people lionizing him. |

The behind-the-scenes rumors on The Revenant didn't derail Inarritu's momentum one bit despite the fact that he had won the year before and they had that excuse if they wanted to go another way. Fact of the matter is, the man is on the hottest of streaks (every film he's made except his debut has contended for above-the-line Oscars) and he's got powerful friends in the industry. Notice how the rumors here are so vague as opposed to someone like, say, David O. Russell making Amy Adams break down into tears. |

The Revenant didn't age greatly and had momentum at the time only because of DiCaprio's overdue narrative. I highly doubt that this time around he will be that lucky in snagging awards wins. Maybe, but his streak is insanely impressive and he's a five-time Oscar winner already. The man's pedigree is monumental. Plus this story is evoking Roma comparisons already. Maybe the Academy will cool on AGI, but there's really no reason to expect it. People thought The Revenant would flop and it didn't. |

This wrapped filming today, and apparently it had a rather turbulent production: There's been a lot of rumors about the production, much like Cuarón while filming Roma, Iñarritu managed to have a hermetic shooting but it made headlines on more than two occasions where police was involved and people were arrested. For a couple of weeks the shooting took place in one of the busiest avenues in the entire city (there's a reason is never used for filming) but the production team blocked parallel avenues to avoid photographers, that infurated a lot workers from the area as they couldn't get in time to their respective jobs and a couple of times the workers tear down the fences and got into fight with the security team, some others threw some fireworks as revenge or simply yell colorful mexican words for hours. I'm sure Iñarritu was not happy, all I know is that his rule on the set was "nobody gets out, nobody gets in". If you want, here's a 1min video of the shooting in that famous avenue, only shows a few people lying on the street, as far as I know the film will take place in the 80s.  |
