Love seeing the Proposition, but as much as I love say Rourke in Sin City, Michael Madsen and a few others should really disqualify it. The scene where Madsen shoots Willis with the not-even-bothering-to-look-at-him dispassion is one of my favorite scenes in cinema purely because I've never seen anyone look that bored in my life.

Well I mean if he was trying to present a guy, who has become completely disinterested with all of reality, mission accomplished.

Take out Gyllenhaal's category-frauding ass, swap him with Norton, and you've got the best lineup ever.

Damn, did this board turn on Huffman or what? Is it because of the optics of her playing a trans character today, or her latter-day tabloid notoriety?

Yay for Winstone, ew at Pearce missing out. Really wish the Capote obsession would die already.

Ah man, was hoping for the Proposition two fer, though I'm glad Winstone made it. Wish I could understand the adoration for Gordon-Levitt in that film however.

I couldn't be more ambivalent towards this year, so... whatevs, peeps. Joan Allen is nominated, so that's cool.
The lack of love for The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio is not at all unexpected, but a little disheartening. Ah well. It isn't that good, but it's better than... well, most anything else this year.
Unfortunately, my library closed because of the zombie plague and now I can't pick up movies the way I used to. They could have given me warning.

If I plan to vote then I need to watch a couple of titles including Kiss Kiss and Sophie Scholl Cache, A History of Violence Didn't know The Proposition was so well liked... not my cup of tea but I'll vote for it in a couple of places. I'm glad Mysterious Skin wasn't overlooked and got two fine nominations, can't complain really, still, Cobert was overlooked. And nothing for Grizzly Man ? That is weird. And what about Last Days and Three Times ? haha

Some thoughts - Memoirs of a Geisha won the cinematography Oscar but it didn't even get a nom here? - I expected Ziyi Zhang to get a nom but pleasantly surprised by Lee Yeong-ae. - Super glad Naomi Watts got nominated. - Batman Begins performed well with the techs but missed a director and BP nom? - The hard on people have here for The Proposition - Ew at the KKBB BP nom.
