Highest Ballot Ranking: 3rd on 1 Ballot
Peak Position in Poll: 6th

QT has steadily risen higher and higher on my shit list throughout this decade, but still hard to resist this film and its all-time great ensemble. Glad it didn't hit top 5, but this is a great spot for it (surprised Basterds didn't make at least the top 50 though).

Highest Ballot Ranking: 1st on 1 Ballot

Pretty sure this is a picture from the first ( since Caan is here ), but could be mistaken as it's been a while since watching Part II. Will be re-watching it soon for '74 though!

Wow, I'm shocked this made the top 3 and I'm so happy about it. In my top 5 of all-time and just stunners of performances all around.

Can we finally agree with what I've been saying forever about Sidney Lumet being an all-time great director? My second favorite behind Hitchcock and just with #3 and #2 here you can see why without even counting his other works that didn't make the top 25. The ensemble by the way is in my top 10, so happy it's here but surprised it's not #1 since I'm pretty sure our Ensemble poll from just a year or two ago decided it was my #1 too.

idioticbunny Godfather Part II pic is from the final scene of the film. My apologies. As I said it's been a very long while since I watched it last, and it didn't look familiar from the first which I just re-watched a short while ago so my bad.

Sorry to bombard with so many posts in a row here, I just didn't get to go one at a time as this was happening. Probably should have limited it to just one big post at the end, but oh well. Thanks again Johnny_Hellzapoppin for putting this together. I feel like ensembles are just an underrated part of a lot of films. It's easy to see the great center piece performers and award them accordingly, but my ensemble picks are always because of the ones that work together and the smaller bit parts that add a ton of depth to the film too. Very sad that about half of my picks - The Best Years of Our Lives, Grand Hotel, Atonement, 25th Hour, Young Frankenstein, Dr. Strangelove, Arsenic and Old Lace, Short Term 12, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, LOTR 1, Dog Day Afternoon, and Road to Perdition - didn't make the cut, but a few were long shots anyway (i.e. Saints, 25th Hour). And the ones that did make the cut (like my #1 Last Picture Show making the top ten) got decent enough spots to make me happy. Can't wait to see what Screenplay offers! Any idea if you plan to do 25 Original and 25 Adapted or slapping 'em all together?

I'm surprised The Favourite didn't even make Top 50, while The Irishman and other recent movies did Other than that, very good choices and great presentation!

In terms of the screenplays, I think a pre-poll poll to let the board decide on to split or not to split will be the way to go.

Also, it's a bummer that the Harry Potter franchise couldn't secure a mention The movies might not be as great as they seemed when we were kids, but the ensemble is so strong!

The first Harry Potter film was very close to making the cut for me. The fact they cast each part so perfectly is a masterwork unto itself. And then it just so happened they all delivered and continued to deliver throughout the rest of the series. Even Daniel Radcliffe, whose work is shaky on its own merit in those first couple of films, still nails the role and works within the confines of the ensemble cast.

Great stuff! Some major ones (at least for me) I'm surprised not to see mentioned at all: - American Beauty (Kevin Spacey appears a few other places) - Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds - More Bergman (Winter Light or Through a Glass Darkly) - Doubt - The Help - The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle - Little Miss Sunshine - Ordinary People - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? - The Lion in Winter - Some Like It Hot - The Hours - Stand By Me

Godfather was the only choice for no. 1.
Apocalypse Now and On the Waterfront both seem a bit low. Gone With the Wind is the biggest/most surprising omission although I guess it is not the most popular movie on this forum.

I'd like to thank the Academy and especially everyone who voted for "Jackie Brown". We collected a great list, I believe. Johnny, always a pleasure to see your presentations! You sure know how to handle a poll, mate!

Lovely results amazing presentation! Thanks Johnny. I'm guessing my #1 was the one without any other votes sadly. Love that Jackie Brown is there with a solid effort and Fargo being so high. The top-3 while somewhat expected is pretty fantastic.

The top-3 while somewhat expected is pretty fantastic. It was your number 1. Still, some surprising films ended up with only one vote. The Top 3 was somewhat inevitable, only the order was competitive for first / second for a while.

That's really awesome to hear. The film has been near the top of my watch-list since about the time it was released and I only keep hearing great things about him. I bet I'd love it to pieces.
