Not sure if this thread exists but can't find it - attention fashion titans - @tyler? LaraQ? Yesterday while watching James Dean not kissing Liz Taylor in Giant (wtf) I liked his greenish shirt under a vest - nothing special but I liked it very much - and I had just watched him fairly recently in Rebel Without A Cause and I literally had that red jacket as a younger brooding malcontent because of him too. Anyone have something like this - where you went out and copied a movie character or wanted to - get a piece of their wardrobe? I don't mean a personal style of the actor per se but more as a movie character's piece of clothing?

Definitely when I was a bit younger - too many times to count, probably. But I think now I've basically identified my own personal style - I'll buy something because I like the way it looks on me, not the way it looks on someone else.

Hats need to be back in style, first of all. Anyone who wears a hat (not a baseball cap) automatically gets major style points from me As for specific characters that I really would want to emulate: This look in particular (but also the rest of Brandon's outfits) is simply heavenly. This is a sort of stand-in for all "smartly dressed gangster" types, but few have done it better than Affleck. For more traditionally functional outfits, I like the look of Kino from Kino's Journey. It's always hard to tell how good an animated character would look in reality, but her jackets in particular always made me swoon and if tailored properly would be excellent fashion.

Also Vinny Chase from Entourage. Lots of Henleys. By far, my favorite shirts to wear.

I'd like to say Audrey Hepburn... but I don't have the same physical appearance, so I doubt her clothes in breakfast at Tiffany's could fit.
I've always liked Elizabeth Taylor 's white dress in Cat on a hot tin roof, and I actually had a similar one 😎.
I'd steal some of Anne Hathaway 's fashion outfits in Devil wears Prada of course 😏.

Lemme begin with a failed attempt - I looked for this sweater (Depardieu/This Sweet Sickness) and found something really off and way too big, and I haven't worn the color brown since! I obsessed over Depp/Cusack movies throughout middle school, so I emulated them a lot - w/ Depp it went to specific stuff like a certain t shirt or the red three-quarter sleeve at the end of Don Juan Demarco; after seeing Secret Window I went looking for a robe. Also I don't wear scarves ever but I really dig them in movies for w/e reason - like a coat-scarf combo Eric Roberts wears in King of the Gypsies

Oh god yes, that dress is stunning; one of the finest pieces of costume designed for a movie. It’s mid 30’s London but also carries an unquestionably modern visage. And the striking green coupled with the film’s visual flair allowed it to just seamlessly fit right in.

My first real screen style icon was Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York.
I tried. I really tried.

I love the jacket Denzel rocked in Training Day, similar to the one Sandler wore in Uncut Gems.

In "Get Shorty" there's a repeated thing where Travolta says he wants "a black leather coat like Pacino wore in Serpico" except he doesn't wear such a coat in that movie at all. Outrageous error! At first I was like "yeah I want one of those too"....then I was like "wait, what coat is he referring to again?"

I feel like any time Ryan Gosling wears a jacket in a movie, I must purchase that same jacket.

Gosling's style in Only God Forgives was pretty suave

I'll just present my minimalist capsule outerwear collection. I actually saw these after my purchases, but they do buttress my choices. I own SNS Stark. I own Falcon Garments A2 Bomber. I own Kapital Tall Ring Coat. Planning to add a dark Fishtail Parka (Falcon Garments), like the one worn by Riley Keough in TGE www.imdb.com/title/tt3846642/mediaviewer/rm2956605184

How do you guys feel about the Lee Storm Rider jacket? It's been worn in film by such legends as Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Robert Redford, Alain Delon, Heath Ledger... I just ordered a vintage one.

Jacket's legit. I prefer Jake's outfits from that film. Not a movie but last time I remember "copying" (or trying to ) a performer's style was Johnny Cash's. Went everywhere with black shirt and pants and shoes lol.

I don’t copy styles from movies I’ve seen but there have been plenty of times where I’ve watched something and thought “I like that shirt”. My style isn’t really complicated tho, I just tend to alternate between polo shirts, band t shirts and soccer jerseys
