This cast keeps getting stacked and insane.
Adam McKay seems to want to compete with Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Is this the most star-studded A-list cast ever assembled in cinema history??

Is this the most star-studded A-list cast ever assembled in cinema history?? If we are talking top of the range movie stars at the peak of their stardom, probably not. I think the Oceans films, particularly Oceans 12 was pretty damned stacked with A-lister movie stars at the peak of their stardom. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones. Even the second-stringers like Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck and Andy Garcia were pretty impressive. A Bridge Too Far was stacked. Sean Connery, Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, Gene Hackman, Ryan O'Neal, James Caan, Maximillian Schell, Dirk Bogarde, Elliot Gould, Anthony Hopkins, Liv Ullman, Edward Fox

Chris Evans has worked with Bong before and Knives Out did well, but this might be his first real top-of-the-line prestige film. I remember that he auditioned for the Jonah Hill role in TWoWS, but didn't get it.

Maybe not quite as good, but more suited for that part than the Donnie Azoff role.

McConaughey in that role was lightning in a bottle in a way that elevated the movie even beyond his own performance (which I honestly think will prove more memorable than even his Oscar-winning performance). The chest-thumping wouldn't have become a thing if it weren't for McConaughey's involvement, and that is kind of the pulse of the movie. I don't mind Evans, but I don't think he has anything on peak McConaughey, and definitely not in that role.

I do agree with that (though I'm kinder to McConaughey's Oscar win than most; I rate that as a top three win of the decade), and I think McConaughey is so intrinsic to that movie's magic that if I had to list a flaw in The Wolf of Wall Street, it's that he doesn't return later in the movie to see what monster he has created. I'm not saying Evans would've been better (because like you, what Matty Mac did was virtuoso scene-stealing stuff and would've been immensely worthy of a nomination on his own), but I think he'd have been a better fit for that part than the Hill role, and in a void where we never got McConaughey as Mark Hanna, I think Evans would've been good in it.

I don't know if it matters, but I know when I'm really excited for something I want to see everything about it even if it's sort of a repeat lol.
Anyhow at the end of this trailer, you can see the above images in motion.
It still could turn out to be a mess like Vice, but I have to admit the images and the footage is making me think it won't be for some reason. (I flip flop a lot though, so I'm sure my opinion will change many times again lol.)
ETA: Sorry I don't know how to remove the video now, but someone posted this on Twitter so you don't have to watch the full video or fast forward.

Someone already pointed it out online, but it's true. DiCaprio is doing a young Guillermo Del Toro cosplay, lol.

Rylance?? That's another terrific addition and makes for an even better ensemble. But are they still casting actors?? Isn't the shooting supposed to wrap in a week or two??

While this has been bumped, quick thought - I watched Mars Attacks a few weeks ago and couldn't help thinking that this was gonna be similar to that. Ridiculously stacked cast... world-ending chaos punched with societal and media satire... GOATs as President - Nicholson, Streep.

SourceLOL, so it turns out Adam McKay wondered the same thing many of us have... Why would DiCaprio do this movie with McKay? This also confirms that the script has been at least slightly revamped.

Is it really though? The Way of the Wind might not even be 2021 at all and where did Adam McKay say any such thing at all and he did what diss the whole rest of his esteemed cast or something to praise Rylance? Not saying he didn't say it........not saying it's not true.......but you know.......healthy skepticism .......

Far as I know, unless he is basing this off rumors, he may have gotten it from what McKay said in the podcast: " Boy, [Rylance] did not disappoint. And he's got one of the most startling, miraculous moments in the movie which everyone will see come November/December..." But I'm not getting standout vibes from what McKay said there.
