Yeah, in terms of working with PTA, I may be wrong, but I think DiCaprio is more interested in doing his own There Will Be Blood or The Master, thus a one-man show with a unique lead character and a show-stopping performance, as opposed to another sprawling ensemble of supporting characters in the vein of Magnolia or Inherent Vice, and I think this new movie belongs more to the latter category. This makes sense. We don't know much about either movie yet. DiCaprio is extremely picky. So it would be give me a lot more confidence if he actually does this. There must be something he really liked about it. Nightmare Alley is more confusing. He takes a lot of time to decide on projects. It's strange that he liked it enough to be announced as the lead only to drop out later. It's not like he had any conflicts at the time.

It's not like he had any conflicts at the time.I think the press was premature with saying he was "in talks", like it was about hashing out schedules and pay and nothing more. I suspect Leo was talking to GDT, expressing interest, and feeling him out, and couldn't pull the trigger due to some lack of confidence about the material or his vision. DiCaprio never just "pulls out" of something at the serious talks stage, unless they set their career on fire like Mel Gibson (and that Viking movie wasn't even close to pre-production). I distinctly remember a Kim Morgan tweet like "Well, now that this seems to have gotten out..." that didn't sound very confident to me, like someone who wasn't GDT or her leaked info when mere discussions were taking place.

So if Leo is in that, he'll be making two films b2b???
Very unusual for Di Caprio but very good news either way.

Here's a quote from that link. I was on my phone earlier, so posting stuff was too difficult:
Also, there's a video of the interview, and at some point the dude asks if they're still looking for the male lead, and I'll let someone else analyze that exchange.

Sounds like they already have a male lead...

Screaming if true. This ensemble, whew! It hasn't been mentioned, but did you notice Amy Adams' frequent set hair stylist is working on it (Patricia Dehaney). Perhaps she's in it too?

Sources??? Btw my guess is that DiCaprio (if he's truly in) is the co-lead alongside Lawrence.

Looks like the tea was correct! Chamalet, Perry and Grande are apparently cameos, though. Filming begins November 19th.

Well, that is impressive. Very happy that DiCaprio is doing another comedic performance. Don't you just love it that meteor movies happen to attract such impressive ensembles?
Although I have a gut feeling that it may become McKay's "Downsizing" - an ambitious sci-fi/comedy flop after a solid awards streak.

I have to say that I had no idea who Kid Cudi was, but I saw him in a movie called James White. Small supporting role, but he was very solid in it and I wondered if he had any serious ambitions for an acting career. He probably won’t have much to do here, but nice to see him land another role in something big like this.

Also, if DiCaprio gets nominated for this, it’d be his fourth consecutive nom. Safe to say at that point that he’s probably entering a phase where he’s getting in for just about anything baity. As is the case with most male actors, his 40’s are a much more award friendly period than the younger years.
