Best Picture winners have a tendency of having their rating go down on IMDb but there are exceptions (including Green Book last year).

It's at well over 200,000 votes. I'm sure its rating will oscillate but not anything more significant than your average high-profile film.

No. It will cement it's position in Top 100 at least.

Why is it such a big thing?
8.4-8.5 will be its final rating. A great one for imdb. No big deal.

Given that it had an big influx of votes in the past week, and it actually rose in the Top 250 instead of falling (it was at around #25-26 before the ceremony with 204k votes. It's now firmly at #21 with 242k votes), I'd say no. Those who are decrying its win are just salty Joker fanboys.

As we are nearing the 2 month anniversary of it winning Best Picture, it currently has 348,136 votes and has a 8.6 rating and is ranked the 26th movie on the top 250.
All in all very impressive feat for the movie. But yeah, and I know I’m stating the obvious here, in the end it should stick around in the Top 250, if not the Top 100 for the foreseeable future.

It deserves maybe a 7.6 and that's being generous.

I know this is an old thread but since it's kind of a fun topic for me I decided to come back to to it. But since it's been a year since I last posted on this thread and Parasite is still at an 8.6 (with roughly 586k votes) and is rated at #30 on the IMDb Top 250, it's pretty safe to say that there really hasn't been any backlash (at least not yet), so it must be in pretty good shape.

Parasite is one of those rare BP winners which are beloved by everyone and truly considered the best films of that year.
It will truly stand the test of time, unlike other flashy stuff of the moment.

I know it's only been out for a couple of years, but I can really see it being relevant at a very high level for a long time to come.

Once again, bumping this one up, since it's been about 2 years since it's Oscar wins. Well it's late March of 2022 and it still has a respectable 8.5 score (with about 727k votes now) and is ranked #35 on the top 250. So far it's going pretty well and is one of the few Best Picture winners to remain that high and to have no real backlash against it. So I guess it's in pretty good shape to say the least!!

what goes up... ...sometimes stays up Parasite really seems to be an outlier here. Usually even good movies tend to fade away after a few years after a start of as good as Parasites had when it came out. But yeah, usually it *Is* what goes up must come down. Just not here, I guess.

Parasite is pretty hard to resist. I've recommended it to people who will normally avoid anything with subtitles and they came away just loving it.
