That's pretty great for Sonic.Fantasy Island is looking to do around $12M which would be a meh result,it's also getting terrible reviews which won't help.Downhill looks like it's going to bomb with $3-4M over the 4 day weekend.Awful.It'll be interesting to see how BoP does,it again has very little competition.

Fantasy Island only cost 7m, so Blumhouse wins regardless. I'm not surprised it's supposedly terrible though, Jeff Wadlow is a pretty garbage director.

To be fair, I'll say I guess it was an interesting concept rather than just doing a typical remake, but the ads looked horrible to me so I'm not surprised it really is bad. Don't want to be the person to start a Sonic thread, lol, but I think Jim Carrey was the funniest he's been since The Mask. I sort of wish he had more to do, but I feel that maybe he wouldn't be as funny if he did get more screentime. The rest of the movie is okay basically like Detective Pikachu.

It sounds like it's a decent time waster, with Carrey in a scene stealing villain role as Robotnik. I'm not sure I'll check it in the theaters, but I'm mildly interested in it, I'll admit. This is actually looking to be his largest opening since the 2009 version of A Christmas Carol. It would be cool if Sonic was the movie that led him to return to the big-screen in general. I've missed seeing Carrey's comedy on a larger platform for a while now.

Jim definitely needs a strong comeback and this seems to be the one, box office-wise.

Ok drop for BoP too.Do you guys think it might make it to $100M after all?. I don't know anything about box office, but looking at the rest of February, I think it could unless something surprises. There's The Call of the Wild next week, but I'm not really sure who the audience is. It feels like it should have been Disney+. I feel bad for Harrison Ford, not that like he needs to prove himself, but still I can't imagine it being a big hit or even just a mild hit at all, and I'd like his career to end on a high note. I mean as long as they follow the book, it should get acceptable reviews, but that CGI dog bugs me so much. It makes sense in The Lion King; although, that movie should have never been made, but having a fake dog seems so unnatural. I mean I get it whenever the dog is in trouble or something doing CGI, but it looks so bad in regular shots that I can't stand it. Maybe I'm the only one that feels like this though, so I could be underestimating it lol. Seriously though families will have Sonic, so I don't know who is going to want to go see it. Like I have A-List and often go see bad movies just to use it regularly, but I have no desire to see this at all. Then, the next two weeks have two scary films with Brahms: The Boy II and The Invisible Man. I suspect the latter could do well just because it looks better imo than Brahms: The Boy II. It also looks more original I guess than another scary doll/psycho kid movie. Maybe it's not lol, but just by Elisabeth Moss being the lead of it, it's already better than Brahms: The Boy II by a lot, . Emma, Greed, Wendy, and Burden are also opening in the next few weeks; although since I've barely seen any promotion for those, I guess all will be in limited release.

Competition doesn't seem that strong for one thing. As for Call of The Wild, I get the feeling it was just made so Chris Sanders who is a genuinely talented animation director, could have an excuse to get into live-action to push for recreating an animal in CGI, in this case a dog. It's nice to see Ford playing a lead in a film again after so many supporting / second lead roles, but yeah I'm not feeling it. Not only do I think The Boy II will flop, but I'm not even sure who was asking for a The Boy sequel? Does anyone even remember the first. It wasn't like it was some big horror hit, and more importantly what the fuck is Katie Holmes doing in this sequel? Does she need to pay rent or something? Invisible Man could be a decent sized-hit, though Blumhouse's slate of films as of late, makes me wary of its quality.

Sonic could get close to $70M at this rate, about $25M over what it was projected to pull in. Great stuff.
