Netflix is ridiculous. They are just a bottomless pit of money at this point. Is it even sustainable at this point?

Netflix is ridiculous. They are just a bottomless pit of money at this point. Is it even sustainable at this point? I don't know. It's like some countries who are in a National Debt for 50 + years, but creditors (other countries, banks) keep "loaning" them money indefinitely because they see the potential to get paid back with interest. Maybe that is how Netflix is viewed because their subscription base is so huge. But they are no longer the only streaming game in town, so that could change. Netflix seems to have an endless line of credit, so they spend like money is running out of fashion and they need to get rid of it.

They're paying $400mil for two movies with no CGI and that would have cost maybe $80-95 with no backend deals.

Well, damn. Daniel is about to get paid with a capital P. Which is weird as fuck, because he didn't even feel particularly essential to the success first movie, but he lucked out playing the detective character, as you can build a franchise around the same detective solving cases. I mean, more people were talking about Chris Evans sweater, than Craig's performance. Talk about fluking into another franchise role after Bond.

I was lucky enough to meet Rian before the pandemic and he talked about his love for mystery. He has a big crush on Agatha Christie and Poirot is his fav character. It doesn't surprise me that he wanted to turn it into a franchise. Well, Chris is that guy. LMAO. He has cross over appeal so anything he does gets people to talk. I think Rian did a good job at creating an original mystery detective. That is hard to do. I love this genre so I'm glad there is somebody out there willing to take on all-star whodunits again.

The thing about Craig's performance I remember people talking about the most was his Foghorn Leghorn-esque southern accent he provided the detective character.

Yeah, most people were wondering why he did it, as it seemed random. Apparently Rian Johnson suggested he do that, and that was after he had already done a cartoonish Southern accent with Logan Lucky. I also like the idea that he should do a different accent for every film, just to mess with audiences minds even more.

I like how everyone in the picture looks prim and proper and then there's Michael Shannon who just got done leading a Civil War battle.

Now I am imagining that every time Michael Shannon wraps a shoot, he steps into a time warp to continue waging the Battle of Chickamauga until he is called to film something else.

What if John Wilkes Booth one of the premiere actors of his day found a portal in the barn house and now goes by Michael Shannon... a premiere actor in THIS day.

Spielberg missed a prime opportunity not having Shannon in Lincoln.
