Will one even offer their hand first at the State of The Union? Hmmmmmm.........I could totally see Trump nodding and smirking without hand offered.

I doubt it. If Trump was smart he would offer his hand since it would go "against type" and make him appear magnanimous, especially if Pelosi doesn't take it which would be the likely outcome. Doesn't really make any difference for Pelosi.

Guys and gals, I must say that American politics is a circus that is so damn entertaining to watch from afar. The State of the Union speech was happening very late at night for me and yet I couldn't stop watching it. The whole thing is like a piece of theatre. Pelosi's face expressions in the background leave Glenn Close's The Wife dead in a ditch, the whole republican side standing up and applauding every time Trump finished a sentence (they will all wake up to pretty heavy leg pains tomorrow) while the democrats demostratively stay seated with their hands tied to their bodies, and yet Trump is forcing them to abandon their act by singling out veterans and children (a lot of them POC), the democrats being completely unable to accept that maybe his administration has done something good for the people, shaking their heads at the boisterous numbers and stuff like that. A total charade, and yet so captivating. Maybe it all looks so fun because Russian politics is something that's pretty boring - we've had VVP for what seems like an eternity and he's just been steadily doing his thing without much opposition. And then you turn to American politics and it's all like a reality show.

Wait, she tore up the speech at the end? It's like something out of Mean Girls, come on! And yeah, if you fail at removing your biggest enemy from his throne (thus giving him more power than ever) then why not at least tear up a piece of paper on camera - that'll show'em! This episode of the Trump series gets an A+.

Now when people think of the state of the 2020 union address they won't be thinking of the false facts in Trump's speech, they'll be thinking of Pelosi tearing it a new one. You better believe that moment is going to be in about 50 documentaries.

You better believe that moment is going to be in about 50 documentaries. Exactly, it is a very obvious and big entertainment moment which is definitely something that'll be added to the highlight reels of the Trump series. But at the same time it's exactly what it is - just an empty moment. It'll be discussed ad nauseam, it'll be in 50 documentaries, it'll be the centerpiece of many a TV discussion, it'll be gif'd to high heavens and used by many as a 'YAS QUEEN' moment for ages. But the act itself doesn't do anything - he's still undefeated, he still reigns supreme no matter how desperately the other side wants to sink his ship. And for his supporters this viral moment will be yet another reason to shame the democrats and vote for their guy. As I understand it, Fox News has already spoken to at least one person that was singled out during the speech (the man whose relative got killed by an illegal immigrant) and he said that for him this tearing up the speech was the most disrespectful thing he's ever seen. I'm sure that a lot on the right will agree. So yeah, everybody's talking about her doing it but it doesn't have any actual positive effect whatsoever.

Anything that detracts from Trump is a positive effect, which is about all the democrats can do at this point. The right will call it petty and vindictive and yet champion a president whose entire administration has been marked by pettiness and vindictiveness on a legendary scale. Pot calling the kettle black with more than an ounce of misogyny. And if the last four years have proven anything, it's that "going high when they go low" doesn't work with this administration because there's no bar low enough for what has become a worryingly sycophantic GOP.

Like nothing that you said is wrong necessarily (it won't just be in 50 documentaries, it's also gonna be in the fucking high school history books), but I doubt she had the aftermath of this planned out.
