So, uh, how is everyone doing? It's been over a year since the first case in my country and schools are opening back up on Monday (special education doesn't count under the unsafe umbrella so my department and our students have been going in every day since the new year). I'm surrounded by PPE, news of new variants, articles about reaching "the Covid Wall," and let me tell you... I am there. My face is right up to that wall. This morning I socially distanced a birthday card drop off for my mom and my parents proceeded to tell me I'm being naive, the government is forcing vaccinations with AI technology to track us (and those that refuse are going to be put in camps), masks don't work, etc. I'm so, so tired, guys. Every single day is a challenge for me going into work and my government and union do nothing to ease anxiety. My own family gets to work from home and read about conspiracy theories all day. I'm exhausted. I hear you dude. I'm out working everyday and it's mentally draining but I've somewhat gotten used to this way of life now. I have to move out tomorrow from my family because they are all home and I want to wait until they are all vaccinated properly. Hope everything works out.

Just got off the phone with my grandma and my mother has successfully talked her out of getting vaccinated. Real tired of my entire family who is diabetic (and both my parents have survived cancer), being all "if this takes me I'm ready for heaven." Can I please take their spot then? At this rate education workers won't be vaccinated until the summer.

I'd be furious if my Mom did that.I don't understand the resistance some people have to getting the Vaccine.I'd have it tomorrow if I could.

I read somewhere that if you are diabetic it is more harmful.

Between lying about the cause of Texas' power outages during the winter storm and now choosing to lift the mask mandate, our governor has really been on a roll these last few weeks...

A little bit of positive news amongst all the crap. The state of New South Wales (where I live here in Sydney), has just recently hit 50 consecutive days without a locally acquired case!

Yep, exactly a year ago we also got a two-week spring break along with the news that our university president had Covid because he went on a trip to NYC with a group of students... and that ended up being the first reported case in our city.

Rookie numbers lol. We didn't have a local case for 8.5 months last year, then we had a few in December, then from February we haven't had one at all.

Today was the first time we were allowed to sing during church in over a year. Pretty good timing if you ask me.

I got my first vax. Slight pain the second day, but I haven’t had any side effects.
