The Academy still hasn't nominated any Asian actresses. Salma Hayek is half Lebanese, if that counts.

I can’t think of many all winner categories, besides S Actor 2012. If you really wanna stretch this you could add Hanks 2 - 94, and then broaden it to noms you can hit Pitt/Hopkins - 95!

The Academy still hasn't nominated any Asian actresses. Miyoshi Umeki won Best Supporting Actress for “Sayonara” (1957). Rinko Kikuchi was nominated (“Babel,” 2006).

probably talking about lead category. isn't Salma Hayek Lebanese? I used to read that Merle Oberon was Eurasian she was nominated for leading actress in Dark Angel (1935) When people say "Asian," they're almost always referring to East Asians. People from Lebanon would be called "Middle Eastern" or "Arab" rather than Asian.

Four out of the five documentary nominees were (co-)directed by women.
And Tamara Kotevska, co-director of Honeyland is only 26! She might be the youngest documentarian, or the youngest female documentarian to be nominated.

There have been four Syrian documentaries nominated in the past three years: Last Men in Aleppo, Of Fathers and Sons, The Cave and For Sama. (And the short doc The White Helmets won the year before the first.)

If Parasite wins Best Picture, it will be the first Palme d'Or winner to win since Marty and the third overall (The Lost Weekend won the top prize when it was called the Grand Prix)
If Joker wins Best Picture, it will be the first Golden Lion winner to win since The Shape of Water and the second overall.

Martin Scorsese ties Elia Kazan as having directed the 2nd most number of Oscar-nominated performances at 24. Only William Wyler is (way) ahead at 36.

If Joaquin Phoenix wins, the Joker will join Vito Corleone as the only characters, real or fictional, to attain two Oscar-winning performances.

Damien Chazelle looks like he will be the lone American best director winner in the whole decade. I don't think the 3 American nominees would win. It's either Mendes (who's British) or Bong (Korean) if he manages an upset.
