Dear God, please don't let 1917 or OUATIH win over THE IRISHMAN or PARASITE. Amen. Yet they will...

What are The Irishman's chances here? It hit everything that it needed to to stay in it. Only one other film was nominated for acting, directing, writing, and editing, and it was ... oh ... oh god ...

I expected nothing from the Academy and I was right. Translation: “they didn’t pick the ones I like...wah wah wah.”

Parasite, The Irishman and Joker are two of the most universally acclaimed films with each conquering festivals, critics (real critics not American buzz feed bloggers or pozzed fake news critics) and now the film industry. Fucking hell the three of them got into the Cahiers top 10

The only person of color (among many who could have been nominated) got her acting nomination for the epitome of Oscar bait. The Academy will never change.

That was not worth waking up this early. I know this doesn't make any sense, but I actually think that maybe last year's nominations were better even with Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody getting a lot of nominations. It's just this year there were no good surprises, imo, and they just nominated the same 4 films (1917, The Irishman, Joker, and OUATIH), it seems in every category. In fact, I believe this is the first time that 4 films have ever all got double digit nominations before, and there's no reason for that even if all 4 films are fair to great, imo. Also I didn't even think that J. Lo was that impressive in Hustlers, but I think she deserved it over Bates this year. Or they could have nominated one of the Parasite actresses, and definitely nominated Song Kang-Ho in Supporting Actor. It's shameful how Asian actors never get taken seriously by the Oscars, and even more shameful that black actors only seem to get any traction when they're playing slaves.

Truly hope that Zellweger will be this year's Glenn Close.I like her but no fucking way, she deserves that Oscar for that clownesque performance 😑

Poor J. Lo got Oprah/Aniston’d. The Farewell getting completely shut out is appalling and I didn’t even love the film THAT much. Shuzhen at the very least deserved a nod. Can’t wait for all the creepy incels gloating about Joker’s overperformance. OUATIH’s showing proves that Hollywood loves nothing more than films about itself. Erivo being the sole acting nominee of color probaly feels really weird and conflicting for her right now.Do you think she will refuse to perform at the Oscars?

If it’s a person of color, you really are better off getting Oscar attention playing a slave or a maid. They chose Erivo over Nyongo as expected and funny enough Nyongo’s only other nomination and win was for playing a slave. Fucking sad.

That's why Moonlight is still probably my favorite Best Picture winner. I don't know how it happened, I'm just glad that it did.

I was certain Nyong’o wouldn’t happen. It’s going to be a blast watching AW meltdown over that. I thought she was good, but I was scratching my head at her winning so many critics awards. I haven't seen Erivo or Theron yet, so I don't know who I would have went with out of the possible nominees. I do have to admit that I'm looking forward to a few people melting down though just because of how obnoxious they were when someone would dare suggest that Nyong'o might miss especially when one of those posters bashed Ronan and Erivo so much.

Thank God they didn't nominate Robbie for OUATIH 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 At least Robbie in OUATIH got Bafta than Jlo who's got nothing I don't give a rat's ass about the BAFTAS. Never did, never will. 😂👍

Nice to see Les Miserables get the Best International Film nod. I know a lot of people thought France made an unwise decision to pick it over Portrait Of A Lady On Fire as that movie was getting more critics awards attention in America, and it might not get the nomination. But that movie like Parasite said about modern South Korea, said more about modern France and needed the attention more than another sumptious period costume drama.
