Goddammit, even if Bong really wasn't my personal choice for Best Director and even if I do find his film to be a bit overrated, I just can't help but rewatch that Best Director win with a huge fucking smile on my face. It was probably the only real surprise of the night but WHAT a surprise it was. And he's just such a genuine dude. His tribute to Scorsese was wonderful and his "I love you Tarantino" almost made me well up! Makes me want to rewatch "Parasite" so that maybe I can fall in love with it but I must resist the urge, at least until the Oscar high comes off

And also, HOLY SHIT that translator! Truly the unsung hero of the entire season. As a translator myself I know very well what kind of pressure it is to literally be a bridge between the speaker and the audience but for her to so effortlessly do her job on such a global stage without showing any signs of stress is truly astonishing. Sharon Choi is her name and apparently she studied film and has been working on a screenplay of her own. Bong, you know what to do!

I wonder how many points in the IMDb score Parasite already lost since last night... Dunno mate, this really seems like a rare BP winner the profile of which only gets stronger and more popular because of its win. I see its ratings only rising, there won't be any backlash against it.

As far as the ceremony is concerned, with all the complaining about the Oscar always going for too long, do we really need all the goddamn songs? I'm not saying anything against the nominated songs being performed and of course the In Memoriam section should stay but the rest of it was just such a waste of time. I mean, it's cool that Eminem performed his Oscar-winning song after not going to the ceremony back in 2003 but did we really need that? It's not like the moment was even a ratings-booster since it was a surprise.

I wish IMDb users were that mature. IIRC The Shape of Water was sitting at comfortable 8.0/10 before February 2018.

I can't believe that everyone predicted the surprise presenter to be Obama and Meghan Markle to then actually being fucking Eminem

I wonder if Parasite winning BP opens a door to AMPAS becoming even more internationally aware in the upcoming years or if it's just gonna be a moment of the Academy patting themselves on the back for rewarding a foreign film and going back to its old ways.

I wonder how many points in the IMDb score Parasite already lost since last night... It's rising, actually. The rating is still at 8.6 but it has risen from #25 to #23 in the IMDb Top 250.

I wonder how many points in the IMDb score Parasite already lost since last night... Parasite, 1917, Ford v Ferrari and Joker will stay in the Top 250, the films the GA liked very much. Films like Irishman and Marriage Story entered the top 100 but quickly fallen off the 250 list.

Highlights -
Bong all over, the Scorsese standing O, Maya Rudolph and Wiig - it's amazing how reliably hilarious Rudolph is as a presenter - Diane Keaton, and Pacino smiling at the Cats.
Side note - I saw The Host when I was like 14y/o, one of the first foreign films I saw and loved, I feel like I've loved Bong/Song forever, and Bong I just realized is the only filmmaker under 60y/o I give a 10/10 to (Memories of Murder) - even if I slightly prefer Park overall, he's a unique and towering talent. Can't wait for what's next.

Is it the first time a movie wins best picture without acting nom at all? Parasite has broken many rules, like it No.

Gosh, I've been beaming all day. My least favorite best picture nominee went home with nothing and my favorite film of the year won best picture.

I literally felt like Howard Ratner watching Game 7 of the Celtics vs. 76ers Eastern Conference Semfinals for the Director and Picture awards. Lol

End of Phoenix’s speech choked me up I shed a tear when he called River Phoenix, The Brother could have been in the same place It was a great speech, even if its beginning scared me up a bit. When he told the audience to stop clapping and started by talking about equal rights, I felt transported to 1973 (when Brando won for the Godfather) and thought for a moment that he was going to refuse the Oscar
