We'll never know, but I'm betting that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood finished 2nd. Just a hunch based on the anon ballots and how 1917 underperformed I was just about to ask that. Possibly Jojo too based on the movie strength. Either way, it was probably by a very large margin

Three time Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho. babe, it's 4 My bad. IMDb hasn't updated yet. Edit: International Feature doesn't count for him. So it's 3.

So deserved! ❤️ Memories of Murder is in my Top 5 of all time and I'm happy to see its director winning so many awards for his second best film.

So everything was going along as predicted, then boom! Upset with Director. Then boom again Upset with Picture.
So much for PGA and DGA precedence.

Parasite only lost Production Design and Editing which it deserved to win too.

Everything's wrapped up, let's do Amara and make Irishman do some revenge! please, Parasite is going to dominate even harder than The Favourite did last year

Korean films have made significant development in the last 20 years, I guess they're very proud and happy for this greatest achievement! Korean cinema has been fantastic this century. I'm glad they are finally being recognized. Now more people will see their films.🥳

Over/Under is 10 weeks before Board opinion changes on Parasite now that it won. Nah, this isn't reddit.

Honestly, the Academy didn't have a bad decade in terms of picking inspired Best Picture winners. The new system works pretty decently (Most of the time):
The Artist Birdman The Shape of Water
and my new favorite trilogy: Spotlight Moonlight Parasite

Things I learned at school today: 1. The BAFTA curse is real. 2. Never trust my predictions and listen to mhynson27 some more. 3. The Academy overcame the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles ... question mark? 4. This overlong circle-jerk is somehow still worth watching every year because sometimes, anything can happen. Y'all take your stats, throw 'em down every set of basement stairs you have, and lock the doors real tight. I literally felt like Howard Ratner watching Game 7 of the Celtics vs. 76ers Eastern Conference Semfinals for the Director and Picture awards. Genuinely wish my reaction to Bong's win was being filmed. Holy fuck, you guys. In honor of Parasite, I raise my glass of soju. THIS IS SO METAPHORICAL.

I wouldn't say it's too much of a shock that Bong won Best Director. Yea no DGA but everyone clearly loved Parasite and no foreign language film had ever won BP so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that giving it all the other awards it got was their way of rewarding it BP while still giving the actual BP prize to 1917.
Holy run-on sentence, Batman.

Hopefully more foreign films get put up for BP now, the Academy’s lineups might just start becoming slightly less plebby

An absolutely historic night for the Oscars and for American audiences being more open to foreign films. Just a great night for film in general.
Fuckin' Bong Joon Ho!!
