Oh sad.....
This is gotta be the blow of the last 5 years. If some old posters back then who seemed really into her are still here, I'd imagine they'd pop back up today in DEVASTATION.
As she's an important figure for lots of people who have just gotten into cinema, you know with Godard and the French New Wave philes - we need to pay double respects here.
Just one of those people I never imagined could've died, her face being eternal and so, but alas.... she's gone.

RIP
She was the heart in the films of a director who without her would maybe appear to be lacking one - in Vivre Sa Vie in particular, his best film imo, the camera captures and is captured by her too - directly in some memorable scenes and dialog - scenes of the director distancing you and bringing you in - in a way that is genuinely startling all these years later.

This is such a loss. Whenever Anna Karina appeared on film, it was a masterclass on screen presence. It wasn't just that she was beautiful, it wasn't just that she was sensual, there was an unique quality of defiance in her eyes. Anna Karina certainly was one of the main reasons why every generation since has tried the New Wave cinema.

One of the greatest of all the great icons of cinema. I don't love a lot of those movies she helped make the stuff of legend as much as I once did, but her magic in them is undeniable. One of the most gorgeous and amazing and defining, often imitated never equalled stars of cinema.

As much as I hate Godard as a filmmaker, he sure knew how to pick a leading lady. The camera loved her, and she just had it in ways that very few actors ever have.

Well I'm not a fan of Godard, but she definitely was not the reason. She had a great presence and was a central part of many of his films that I liked better, especially Bande a part.

It was her performance in Vivre sa Vie that introduced me to the French New Wave as a baby cinephile. This is a devastating loss. She was an effervescent beauty and a fount of grace, charm, vulnerability and talent, and a born star. It was her life to live and she lived it, but I'll always remember her as the devil-may-care girl dancing in the cafe.
