Now I realize that people are going to forget about this thread because of awards season, and I am too. We won't vote on placements until sometime in February after the awards season ends so there's no rush.
in the meantime I'll just leave these bad boys here:
Daniels, Linney, Eisenberg, Kline, The Squid and the Whale Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain Kevin Zegers, Transamerica Rachel Weisz, The Constant Gardener (BAFTA had her in lead for some reason) Juliette Binoche, Cache Maria Bello, A History of Violence

Steve Martin, Shopgirl
Hoodwinked! - Original or adapted? I'd assume adapted due to using Little Red Riding Hood as a source?
Edit: Oh, and I guess I'll ask here if Empire Falls is eligible. It's technically a miniseries, but consists of two episodes clocking in at just a touch over three hours. It also has stunning work from Jeffrey DeMunn, Dennis Farina, Ed Harris, Philip Seymour Hoffman Paul Newman, Danielle Panabaker, Estelle Parsons, Robin Wright... and oh yeah, Helen Hunt is in it too (I actually like her OTT acting in this, but I understand how she grates on some people).

Ray Winstone, The Proposition (motherfucker's lead as the day is long, but we need to make sure he doesn't vote-split)

LRRH can be traced as far back as the 10th century and isn't associated with a particular author. It's a fairy tale in the public consciousness. For me, the line between adapted and original is more about whether the writer is pulling from published work(s) with a discernible author, not whether the ideas are new or not. I mean, virtually no stories are entirely original anyways. We can vote on it though. re: Empire Falls No clue if it's eligible because I haven't seen it, but we can vote on that one too.

Already turned mine in but okay. The Squid and the Whale: Daniels and Linney in Lead, Eisenberg and Kline in Supporting Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line - Lead Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain - Supporting. I have him there because it feels more like Ennis's story, plus Jack's death happens when there's still some time left in the movie. Rachel Weisz, The Constant Gardener - Supporting, she's my win Maria Bello, A History of Violence - Supporting, she's my #5 Haven't seen: Kevin Zegers, Transamerica Juliette Binoche, Cache

I turned mine in as well, but I'll weigh in with my thoughts here:
LEAD Jeff Daniels/ Laura Linney - The Squid and the Whale Reese Witherspoon - Walk the Line Renee Zellweger - Cinderella Man
SUPPORTING Jesse Eisenberg/ Owen Kline - The Squid and the Whale Jake Gyllenhaal - Brokeback Mountain Rachel Weisz - The Constant Gardener Juliette Binoche - Cache Maria Bello - A History of Violence Scarlet Johansson - Match Point Ray Winstone - The Proposition
Hoodwinked! - Adapted
N/S: Transamerica, Shopgirl, The New World, The Interpreter, Oliver Twist, Junebug, Empire Falls
Going off of memory for a lot of these so I could be blatantly wrong, but that's from what I remember about the films.
