Really looking forward to seeing who they choose for Best Actress. I'm hoping Zellweger doesn't take it in a Mirren-style sweep this year... We'll see.

Never change award groups. I see they actually started voting around 9 instead of 10, and they still haven't named the first winner yet. ETA: I guess I should add that I will never change either since I'll always complain about them being so slow even though everyone knows how slow they are by now.

Okay since I'm bored.
It probably won't end up meaning anything, but since it looks like Parasite won't win Best Film here because I think that once it wins Best Foreign Language Film, it can't win Best Film, is this a bad sign for Parasite that Roma was able to win Best Film here and also was placed in NBR's Top 10 list which Parasite also missed?

Watch them give Best Actress to Moss for Her Smell or something (She's my current win).

THE PESH.
I did not like The Irishman, but I have no qualms with a Pesci win.

Now Supporting Actress, it will be between Lopez, Dern or maybe Shunzen, but I’d love to see a Cho or Park upset.

Pesci was easily the best thing about The Irishman. Even uncouth and unclutured ingrates like myself and Bill Simmons have nothing but high praise for his efforts. Whatever isssues the film has, it's a classy as fuck performance and a well deserved win!
I do think it's weird that people keep acting like Pesci is a mere stepping stone for Al Pacino to walk over as soon as the Golden Globes or whatever come around, instead of treating him like Brad Pitt's probable main rival for the actual Supporting Actor Oscar.
It's like the NBR giving their "icon" award to Scorsese, DeNiro and Pacino, but leaving Pesci out in the cold. Kinda disrespectful.

Verrrry surprised that Lopez didn't win with this group (or someone more "left-field" like Zhao or Cho), her performance seems like the exact thing that they normally go for. If she can't recover once the industry awards start up this could turn into a bit of a cakewalk for Dern.

That's true, but in my eyes she seemed to fulfill that Tiffany Haddish in Girls Trip/Regina Hall in Support the Girls precedent, it almost felt like a no-brainer for me ... and it's not like either of those two actresses are traditionally critical darlings either, but those respective performances were and J-Lo in Hustlers *really* was, and the film keeps popping up on top ten of the year lists and whatnot.

If she can't recover once the industry awards start up this could turn into a bit of a cakewalk for Dern. Same. Most people were predicting Lopez to win here because she had such great ink with the New York critics, and lately they've been going for more left-field choices in supporting actress and actress. For me the path for Lopez to be competitive for the Oscar win was that she had to be the big critics favorite, and hope that the televised awards were swayed by that rather than switching over to Dern because Dern had the stronger movie and veteran narrative. If Lopez doesn't dominate the critics' awards, then Dern probably does win in a cakewalk. Lopez can still win LA and/or NSFC, but as a likely lone nominee I think she needed to win the trifecta to have a chance at beating Dern. Even if she didn't win the trifecta, the worst case for her was exactly what happened today and that was Dern winning one of the big three over her. If Pugh or Shuzhen had won, then it wouldn't have mattered very much because Pugh and Shuzhen are unlikely to win any of the televised awards.
