What?? Uncut Gems was released only nearly two years ago.
And yet still no After Hours, The King of Comedy, or even Good Time (the superior Safdie movie)

That's a criminally great bunch. I'm not crazy about A Hard Day's Night in comparison to the rest, but still.

Criterion announced its December releases today and I have to say that not only is this cover art gorgeous, but this film is a masterpiece and it's great seeing it join the collection.

I don't get releasing brand new docs available everywhere. The Piano better pick but not as good as Portrait of a Lady would've been which needs and deserves a boost. Festen is the great add - I've had it on my watchlist for fifteen years! it's never been easily available.

@tyler She made some wonderful picks! Satyajit Ray's The Hero is so good.
I didn't know she grew up in Italy! I actually...saw her when I went to Rome outside of a gelato place (I recognized her from Homeland).

Mattsby - Did she seem nice? Did you say 'hi'? She is just the most gorgeous woman - she recalls Ava Gardner to me, especially around the eyes. She is Anglo-Indian, just like Ava's character in Bhowani Junction. cherry68 - I think you might enjoy her talking about growing up in Italy and her love for Monica Vitti in the video.

Is this the first Denzel Washington movie in the Criterion Collection? Nope. Missisipi Masala www.criterion.com/films/32237-mississippi-masala.A bunch of his films with Spike Lee are probably on their wishlist, but Spike has a deal with Kino Lorber who are direct competitors with Criterion in that market space. Mo Better Blues is with Kino Lorber. If Criterion could get ahold of Malcolm X, He Got Game and Inside Man, they probably would. But in general, I think there's quite a few of his movies that might eventually get the Criterion treatment if the studios that own them are willing. Glory, Man On Fire, American Gangster, Fences, The Tragedy Of Macbeth, Flight, Training Day etc
